Slaves to Fashion - Album almost done

Metalnews Power of
Progressive hard rock band Slaves To Fashion (formerly known as P:O:B) from Norway has just finished recording and mixing the new album, which is due to release later this year. The album has been mixed by Rudolf Fredly in Sweetspot studio in Norway and the tracks have now been sent for mastering to Mika Jussila (Masterplan, Nightwish, Stratovarius) in Finnvox studio in Finland.

"The new album is progressive, heavy, melodic, dark and fashionable - and we can't wait to get it out there. Mr. Fredly did a great job mixing it and we're all excited to hear the final result from Mika Jussila", says vocalist Johannes Støle.

More details about the album release will follow soon.

Lots of rumors exist about Mayhem. After their last bloody show at Wacken 2004, the norwegian black metal icon Mayhem returns to Wacken. The band is again fronted by former vocalist Atilla Csihar who replaced Maniac in the end of 2004.

Mayhem released their last album “Ordo Ad Chao” in April 2007. At the end of 2008 the EP “Live Eternal” and the documentary “Pure fucking Mayhem” were published.

The gig in Wacken will be their only german festival show in 2011.

Slam fans rejoice!
Ingested have finished writing the follow up to their critically acclaimed, devastatingly brutal debut 'Surpassing The Boundaries Of Human Suffering'. But will they be able to push the envelope even farther for their eagerly anticipated follow up? 'There’s a lot more energy in it', assures guitarist Sam Yates. 'Faster blasts, bigger slams and it's groovy as fuck!'
The band look set to enter Foel Studio with recording wizard Chris Fielding (Napalm Death, AOAA, Dyscarnate) in late 2010. Having worked on some of the heaviest albums of the past few years, Sam seems certain that Fielding will capture exactly what Ingested are gunning for. I trust Chris will get the best from all of us. We've heard a lot of great things from Foel – plus, Sean and Lyn have worked with him before (On the latest AOAA outing The Reign Of Darkness - available now at the SOAR web store). We're going for a more natural drum tone this time - the album will have a more Trad-Death inspired sound than 'Surpassing'. Ingested’s new release will surface around winter. The debut album 'Surpassing The Boundaries Of Human Suffering' is out now, available online at the SOAR web store, or direct from the band at live shows.

Martyr Defiled will unleash their highly anticipated debut album 'Collusion' upon the eager metal masses on the 27th September. Fans can get a taste for what to expect from the new single 'An Act Of Sedition', the video for which is available to stream on the band's MySpace page, or the SOAR website. The UK 'Predatour' with SOAR labelmates/deathcore deviants Postmortem Promises has just come to an end, where both bands will showcased material to the spin-kicking delight of their considerable collected fan base.
It hasn't all been plain sailing in the Martyr Defiled/PMP camp though, with both bands having to deal with personnel shuffles during the recording/touring process, complicating things slightly.
'Things were difficult', confirms Martyr Defiled vocalist Matthew Jones, 'Ali was replaced by Lee on guitar, and our new bassist Joe Blackburn came in to fill Lee's spot. We're much happier with our current lineup, both musically and personally, and we couldn’t fault the end result of the album – it's a massive step up from our old material!' The group have also got European dates in the pipeline, including shows with The Bridal Procession and Circle Of Contempt, and are already working on their sophomore release, which they promise will be 'even heavier and darker' than Collusion – a tall order indeed! Martyr Defiled's debut album 'Collusion' is out on the 27th September. Pre-orders (including limited edition merchandise packages) are available from the SOAR web store now.
PMP have now secured a spanking new rhythm section who tested their chops on the recent tours with Sworn Enemy and Martyr Defiled. The result is a fresh injection of urgency, combined with an even tighter, heavier live show for the fans to enjoy...singer Aaron Ketley says 'We're so chuffed with how the new line up has are going crazy at the shows and we're coming up with all sorts of new ideas for the next album and are finally ready to tour full time, something that we were previously unable to do...expect a new demo track soon to keep you happy in the meantime!' Postmortem Promises album 'On Broken Foundations' is out now!

Nelson - "Lightning Strikes Twice"

Metalnews Power of
NELSON celebrate the 20th Anniversary of "(Can't Live Without Your) Love and Affection” hitting n.1 in Billboard announcing the release of their new album “Lightning Strikes Twice”

On September 29th 1991 NELSON reached the height of the US Single charts with their evergreen hit “(Can’t Live Without Your) Love And Affection”. Their music has stood the test of time and now 20 years later Matthew and Gunnar Nelson explore fresh creative territory in the present with their new album, “Lightning Strikes Twice” scheduled for first release in Europe on November 5th, with US and Asian release to follow.

Magical melodic songwriting and soaring sibling harmonies continue to ensure that this dynamic duo is still a vital part of the music scene’s future. The new album goes straight back to the absolute brilliance of NELSON’s first album, hence the title and an amazing set of songs that are going to restore the faith in NELSON.

“After the Rain” was the debut multi-platinum album by NELSON in the early 1990s. They zoomed to number one with their hit song, "(Can't Live Without Your) Love and Affection,” which made history landing America’s iconic Nelson family (bandleader Ozzie Nelson, rock legend Rick Nelson, and twins Matthew & Gunnar) into the Guinness Book of World Records as the ONLY family in Entertainment with 3 successive generations of #1 hitmakers.

NELSON’s “After the Rain” record and tour became a phenomenon just prior to the rise of grunge. The last major success of the good time rock’n’roll era, NELSON has had (1) Number One, (4) Top Ten, and (5) Top 40 Billboard Hot 100 hit singles, plus (5) #1 MTV videos and has sold over 6.5 million albums worldwide!

Nelson has always been synonymous with entertainment in America. Matthew and Gunnar follow Ozzie Nelson’s vision of embracing connecting with people and audiences through all forms of media. They have been doing television-hosting work for VH1 and E! Gunnar is also a standout reality TV star with VH1’s “Celebrity Fit Club”. Plus, Gunnar co-hosted LIFETIME Radio’s nationally syndicated morning show.

A&E channel’s Nelson Family “Biography” episode is still one of the top-rated ‘Biography’ installments. Matthew & Gunnar embraced this fascination by creating a touring show to celebrate the TV Nelsons and the amazing career of their legendary father, Ricky, for whom LIFE magazine coined the phrase “Teen idol”. They share video clips & tell stories about their Hollywood family and perform their Pop’s music live to audiences in RICKY NELSON REMEMBERED while separately touring as NELSON.

NELSON has been headlining at major rock festivals around the globe celebrating the 20th anniversary of “After the Rain”. Touring in China, the U.K. and of course the U.S. where they have also toured extensively with Peter Frampton and Styx. In October 2010 the band will head to the UK to headline day 2 of the Firefest festival appearing with label mates Jimi Jamison, Lynch Mob, Strangeways, Pretty Maids amongst others. A world tour at the beginning of 2011 will follow.

"’Lightning Strikes Twice’ has allowed us creatively, artistically and musically to resolve some unfinished business," Gunnar says. "We’ve had a blast going into the studio writing and performing some of our best songs. Plus, being back on the road with NELSON is living the dream all over again. New fans are discovering our music and original fans have shown incredible support all over the world. It ROCKS!”

Matthew adds, “Who could believe we would be doing a NELSON sequel to ‘After the Rain” twenty years later? Gunnar and I feel it’s our best work to date and should live up to its name ‘Lightning Strikes Twice’. We believe NELSON fans will agree with that forecast and hope they feel it’s been worth the long wait.”

“Lightning Strikes Twice” tracklisting includes:
Call Me; Day By Day; Ready, Willing and Able; How Can I Miss You?; You’re All I Need Tonight; To Get Back To You; When You’re Gone; Take Me There; Come; In It For The Money; Change a Thing; Kickin’ My Heart Around.

The Ocean reveals artwork

Metalnews Power of
THE OCEAN reveal front art for "Anthropocentric"!

THE OCEAN have finished the recordings for their upcoming album Anthropocentric at Studio Mecanique in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, the same place where Heliocentric was recorded and mixed.

Musically, the album feels somehow heavier than Heliocentric. "The sound is more dense and maybe a tad more raw, which suits the songs perfectly", comments guitar player Jonathan Nido. The album covers a similar sonic and dynamic range as Heliocentric, also including a number of calm, acoustic moments – but these are for the most part orchestrated with guitars, and not so much with piano and string section. The focus is on the heavy songs: "The album is a pretty big production, and still has a very earthy, organic feel to it", comments Staps. "We have spent a great deal of time on the basic sound this time around, drums, bass, guitars and vocals… and at this stage I am pretty confident that this will pay off in the end!"

As far as the concepts behind Anthropocentric are concerned, the focus is on man and his place in the universe: at the center, as many fundamental Christians still claim today, or more likely a dust particle in its periphery? All lyrics are circling around this question. "Anthropocentric will continue the critique of christianity, inspired by the questions that Dostoyevsky asked and some of the answers that Friedrich Nietzsche and Richard Dawkins gave", comments Staps.

At the base of the album are three songs with the titles "The Grand Inquisitor I, II and III". These songs have been inspired by the chapter of the same title in Fjodor Dostoyevsky's novel The Brothers Karamasov: a conversation between the brothers Ivan, an atheist, and Alyoscha, a monk. Ivan tells Alyoscha the story of a Second Coming of Christ in 16th century Sevilla. According to this parable, Jesus is arrested by the Catholic inquisition. The grand inquisitor who interrogates Jesus casts a new light on the legend of the temptation of Christ: he reproaches Jesus with having betrayed humanity and having deprived man of salvation by giving him freedom. The conversation between Ivan and Alyoscha mirrors, to some degree, the conversation between the grand inquisitor and Christ and raises more questions than it answers. "This long dialogue, which for the most part is rather a monologue of Ivan, is so complex and recondite that one could easily find inspiration for 10 concept albums about Christianity in it", comments Staps.

Only 6 guest musicians are appearing on the album, all classical musicians, most of whom are guesting on the final track of the album. Anthropocentric is an album by The Ocean's consolidated nucleus. "It is the first album where all members have actively partaken in the songwriting", comments Staps.

The track listing for Anthropocentric is as follows:
01. Anthropocentric
02. The Grand Inquisitor I: Karamazov baseness
03. She Was The Universe
04. For He That Wavereth…
05. The Grand Inquisitor II: Roots & Locusts
06. The Grand Inquisitor III: A Tiny Grain of Faith
07. Sewers Of The Soul
08. Wille Zum Untergang
09. Heaven TV
10. The Almightiness Contradiction
11. The Grand Inquisitor IV: Exclusion From Redemption

The last track is a bonus track which will only appear on the vinyl and the limited European deluxe Digipak version!

THE OCEAN will release their new album Anthropocentric in November of 2010! It's the second part of a concept spread over two albums. The first one named Heliocentric has been released in April of this year.

GOD DETHRONED reveal front art and track listing for 'Under The Sign Of The Iron Cross'!

4. The Killing is Faceless
5. Under the Sign of the Iron Cross
6. Chaos Reigns at Dawn
7. Through Byzantine Hemispheres
8. The Red Baron
9. On Fields of Death & Desolation

The bands 9th album has been recorded at the Soundlodge Studios in Leer, Germany.

Comments singer/guitarist Henri Sattler: "Just like with our two previous albums we've been recording at the Soundlodge Studio's in Leer, Germany with producer Joerg Uken. "Under the Sign of the Iron Cross" is another concept album about World War One. Having done a concept album about this topic before didn't make it an easy job, but reading Ernst Juenger's "In Stahlgewittern" (Storm of Steel), which is his biography of his daily experiences in the trenches during the war, gave me so much inspiration that I managed to do a good job on the lyrics and I'm really satisfied with the result, but this is of course something you will have to check out for yourselves.

Musically the new album turned out to be one of the most extreme records we ever did. Nevertheless with the very recognizable God Dethroned hooks present in all the songs. Producer Joerg Uken outdid himself this time, because our new album is in my opinion the best produced album we ever had. Extremely raw, heavy, but crystal clear and super dynamic at the same time.”

Henri "T.S.K.” Sattler – vocals & lead guitars
Henk "Henke” Zinger – bass
Michiel "Mike" vd Plicht – drums
Danny Tunker – guitars

'Under The Sign Of The Iron Cross' will be released the 19th/22nd of November 2010 via Metal Blade Records in Europe and the 23rd of November in North America!

Obscura unveils album title

Metalnews Power of
Progressive death metal act OBSCURA has unveiled the name of their forthcoming full-length as Omnivium. Omnivium was recently recorded and now being mixed at Woodshed Studio in southern Germany with engineer V. Santura (TRIPTYKON, DARK FORTRESS). The nine-track album will see an early 2011 release date. Additional album details will be made available shortly.

OBSCURA’s Steffen Kummerer issued the following update from the studio: "Although we recorded again with our long time friend and producer V. Santura in the Woodshed Studios, the studio sessions were hard work and lots of sweat. It was for the best though since Omnivium is definitely the next step for this band."
"Christian (Muenzer – guitar) recorded some outstanding solos with a new 8 finger tapping technique, Jeroen (Paul Thesseling – bass) brought his own stamp of fretless tone into the mix again, and Hannes (Grossmann  - drums) recorded his heaviest session to date and broke through the 260 bpm line. Everyone brought lots of great ideas to the table and made Omnivium a truly collaborative band effort. Omnivium sounds solely like Obscura, and brings us a step closer to reaching our unique vision of progressive death metal."

OBSCURA has recently been confirmed for the Mass Deathtruction Festival held in early December in Belgium with additional touring to be announced soon.

OBSCURA Tour Dates:

The album contains 12 tracks of high-speed manic chaos. Dissonant, monolithic walls of guitar on top of a tutorial in blast beats—monumental grind and metal with a crusty edge!
Formed in 1995, Wojczech has been touring as often as possible, in Peru, Brazil, Southeast Asia, the U.S., Mexico, and Europe. In addition to dozens of 7”es and split 7”es and a live 12”, the band put out their first full length, Sedimente, in 2005, which was recorded by Harris Johns and released by Selfmadegod and Sensitive Wormrile. Wojczech has been honing the material on Pulsus Letalis in the live arena for years, and finally has captured their intensity on this full-length album.

Wojczech will hit the road for a European tour with Weekend Nachos from October 2 through 16.

Selfmadegod will handle the CD while the vinyl edition, limited to 500 copies, will come out on RSR Records and Sensitive Wormrile in Europe and Haunted Hotel Records in the U.S.

Fans of Discordance Axis, Repulsion, Phobia, Excruciating Terror, Gasp, SOB, and Disrupt should love Wojczech.

Check the band's myspace – four tracks from the new album are available for streaming.

Agathocles - New album in October

Metalnews Power of
Selfmadegod Records is proud to announce the release of the This is Not a Threat, It’s a Promise CD by the cult grind “mince core” band Agathocles from Belgium.

The 27-song album, recorded at Soundshape Studios in Belgium where the band recorded most of their full lengths, such as the classics Razor Sharp Daggers, Grind Is Protest, and Black Clouds Determinate.
Agathocles frontman Jan AG comments, “This album contains all elements which AG uses to create their brand of mince core. Going from raw punk to d-beat to old school straight forward grind, backed up with three different vocal styles. This time the lyrics deal with topics like losing your job and waiting for the repo man, scenesters, elections, the worldwide economic crisis, modern technology and the rise of Big Brother, and more.

Get ready for another old-school, raw, mince core blast!”

This is Not a Threat, It’s a Promise is set to release in October of 2010.

Comments Huzar, band guitar player: „We put all passion and determination from our hearts into this music. Our band went through some hard time during last year, but the faith in what we’re doing and the need to create music was the reason that our music grew mature. One thing can be said for sure: the music we offer these days is full of emotions and let it be the keynote of upcoming album. It’s hard to be original these days and we do not pretend to be – we’re not afraid to admit it and we’ll accept all comparisons. I’d like to encourage you to listen to our new songs”
Two new songs from „Sacrilege Of Humanity”  are already available at the band’s Myspace page –
Calm Hatchery debuted 4 years ago with „El Alamein” album. Recently the band achieved quite big success wining on 20th August Rock Generacja festival and having the opportunity to present itself next day in Koszalin Amphitheatre together with Vader and Napalm Death.

Sanctuary @ 70,000 Tons of Metal

Metalnews Power of
NEVERMORE and the pre-NEVERMORE cult band SANCTUARY have been confirmed for the 70000 Tons Of Metal cruise, which is set to sail from Miami, Florida to Cozumel, Mexico on January 24, 2011 and return four days later. A total of 40 acts will appear at the event.

The festival billing is shaping up as follows:

SAXON will play two unique shows. One night they will perform the "Wheels Of Steel" LP in its entirety and on a different night, for the second show, they will play "Strong Arm Of The Law" from start to finish.

70000 Tons Of Metal will sail Monday, January 24, 2011 aboard the Royal Caribbean "Majesty of the Seas" from Miami, Florida to Cozumel, Mexico and will not return you to the real world for four days until Friday, January 28, 2011.

Make no mistake, 70000 Tons Of Metal is not your grandma's cruise. It's also not one of the cruises that share the ship with normal cruise guests. This is an all-ship heavy metal cruise! Can you imagine that? A whole luxury cruise ship full of metalheads? And since there is no backstage area you will have the opportunity to mingle side-by-side with the artists in this incredibly fan-friendly scenario that has no comparison. It's like everyone has a backstage pass and you might even need a vacation from this vacation when all is said and done!

Ticket prices start at US$666 plus US$249 taxes and fees per person and include all on-board entertainment, all meals and non-alcoholic and non-carbonated drinks at the on-board restaurants and 24-hour room service!

Paindivision - New album

Metalnews Power of
Paindivision report on a new album, new drummer and more info.

Paindivision is very happy to announce a new drummer for the band. Robin Stone or “Frog” as he is best known, is drummer for death metal exponents “The Amenta” and also performs in “Norse”.
We wish previous drummer Peter all the best with his future.
From guitarist Stu Marshall-  2009 was a really quiet year for the band. After we finished the Armored Saint / Death Angel support our intention was to start writing a new cd but found other commitments kept us out of the studio. We now have around 15 songs that are starting to come together which will frame the follow-up to 2008’s “One Path”. Now, we have a new focus across the group and are heading directly for our old school thrash roots with elements of classic thrash. We have been kidding around with the idea of the album being a “Thrashaganza!” and will be trying to incorporate the power of our live show into the album.

From Drummer Frog (Robin Stone):-. a big thanks to Paindivision for giving me this great opportunity! I'm really looking forward to working with these guys to create the best Paindivision album yet!

The new album from Paindivision has the working title of “Warwolf” and will feature for the first time, vocals by Dan Quinlan and the guitar talents of Ben Thomas. The release date is currently open with a view of release in early to mid 2011.

Video footage is available at the bands official youtube channel -

The band will be shopping labels towards the end of 2010 – contact the band at
