InsideOut Music signs Leprous

LEPROUS – Norwegian Prog Metallers sign new worldwide deal with InsideOutMusic; In the studio working on album recordings now!

InsideOutMusic, the leading label for progressive music, is proud to announce a new worldwide deal with one of the most interesting and talented young progressive outfits in today’s scene: LEPROUS from Norway.

Here is a statement from the band about the newly inked deal: “We’re all very happy…no,, enthusiastic…, no THRILLED to be a part of the InsideOut / Century Media family! InsideOut has always been the label we’ve considered the most suitable for our music, so this is really a dream come true for us! We're ready to take LEPROUS to new heights in 2011, and the signing with InsideOut / Century Media is just the first step.”
LEPROUS is a young five piece band (ages range from 19 to 25 years) hailing from the metal town of Notodden, Norway, also home of bands such as Emperor, Zyklon, Ihsahn, Peccatum, etc. Originally founded in 2001, they've gone through a few line-up changes to now consist of Einar Solberg (synth/vocals), Tor Oddmund Suhrke (guitar), Rein Blomquist (bass, also in Above Symmetry), Øystein Landsverk (guitar) and Tobias Ørnes Andersen (drums).

The music of LEPROUS is not easy to classify. Various genres are included, from progressive rock, to jazz, to pure metal and the vocals alternate between clean singing and growling, adding heaviness to the music. Instead of drawing parallels to this or that, bands such as Opeth, King Crimson, Porcupine Tree, The Mars Volta, The Dillinger Escape Plan or Shining (NO) should be seen rather as a songwriting influence than as comparison. It's all in the eye (or in this case, the ear) of the beholder…

LEPROUS have already made themselves visible on the Norwegian prog- and metal scene by releasing the self-financed full length demo CD "Aeolia" in 2007 and by making it to the finals of the Norwegian Rock Championship twice. In May of 2009, LEPROUS released their first real album "Tall Poppy Syndrome” via American label Sensory Records and that album quickly became somewhat of an underground cult-release, heralded as the best 2009 prog-metal release by many media people.

“With songwriting full of endless surprises and unpredictability, Tall Poppy Syndrome is a breath of fresh air in progressive metal and a required listen for any fans of the genre.”

“The best album of 2009, ignored by most but revered by the few that come in contact with it. I can't do anything else but give it my highest recommendation.”

Backed by their new management/booking agency, Intromental Worldwide, LEPROUS spent 2009/2010 promoting the album’s release with numerous shows throughout Scandinavia, Europe and USA, as well as finally a main support slot for the fall 2010 European tour of Swedish symphonic/orchestral metal band Therion, taking them through no less than 17 countries in 30 days.

Besides their own band, the members of LEPROUS are currently also acting as the session/live band of solo artist "Ihsahn", also known as the front figure of the legendary black metal band Emperor.

LEPROUS are currently busy with studio work for their upcoming, still untitled next album, to be released via InsideOutMusic after the summer of 2011. Stay tuned for more details to drop soon about an extremely interesting listening-experience coming your way soon…

Upcoming LEPROUS shows:
May 21, 2011 - Kabuto Metal Festival - w. Ihsahn, Morbid Angel, The Haunted a.o.
Namba Hatch, Osaka, Japan
May 22, 2011 - Kabuto Metal Festival - w. Ihsahn, Morbid Angel, The Haunted a.o.

Faithsedge inks deal with Scarlet Records

Metalnews Power of
Faithsedge has signed a deal with Scarlet Records for the worldwide release of their much anticipated debut album.
Faithsedge was started by singer/songwriter Giancarlo Floridia in Huntington Beach, California, in early 2009. The band’s all-star line up includes renowned producer/bassist Fabrizio Grossi (Steve Lukather/Starbreaker), former Dokken guitarist Alex De Rosso and drummer Tony Morra (Rebecca St James,Van Zant).
The resulting effort is a perfect mix of hard rock, heavy metal and progressive, with lots of vocals and hooks, shredding guitar solos, pounding bass and drums and plenty of melodically challenging songwriting.
‘Faithsedge’ was mastered by Tom Baker of Precision Mastering (Judas Priest/Motley Crue). The album will be out on April 19, 2011. Get ready for Faithsedge!

Second Jolly album out today

Your lucky day: “The Audio Guide To Happiness (Part 1)” out now in stores!
for fans of Porcupine Tree and Riverside

JOLLY - “The Audio Guide To Happiness (Part 1)” 28.02.2011 (InsideOut | EMI)

As of today happiness will be tangible by a simple walk to the record store: „The Audio Guide To Happiness (Part 1)“, the brand-new album by JOLLY is out now to bring its listeners feelings of relaxation, creativity and happiness by using the phenomenon of binaural tones. And according to what the press says so far, this plan seems to be working out pretty well.
Otherwise the AARDSCHOK-Magazine would probably not have elected “The Audio Guide To Happiness (Part 1)” to be their Album of the month.
It is to say that binaural tones do not exist as such. They occur when two slightly diverging frequencies are played simultaneously and the brain then generates a third tone - the deviation of those two frequencies.

This knowledge cleverly combined with music and lyrics, JOLLY now composed – after releasing their debut album “Forty-Six Minutes, Twelve Seconds of Music” in 2009 - an “Audio Guide To Happiness”, leading us a way to happiness in four phases. The first two phases, combined to “Part 1”, are now available in stores – and it is surely not only an insider’s tip for hobby-brain researchers but rather a strong recommendation for lovers of atmospheric and progressive rock-music!  Also included in the Pocket Pac: “Part 2” – but only in textual form.

Scar Symmetry comments on new album

Metalnews Power of
Swedish progressive melodic death metallers SCAR SYMMETRY just revealed the cover artwork for the bands upcoming album „The Unseen Empire“.

Furthermore, drummer Henrik Ohlsson stated the following about the album:
The Unseen Empire” seeks to expose the hidden hand of the elite that pull the strings of mankind in order to fullfill their agenda of global domination. The album concept goes from theories of shadow governments to secret ancient bloodlines and even further into speculations of malevolent influence from metaphysical reptilian-based intelligences. Mankind`s only hope to survive seems to be an internal awakening where the influence of the the unseen empire that rules in secrecy is washed away from the minds of the masses. They want us to stay within the framework of their agenda, hypnotizing us with things that draw attention but has no value. It`s time to step outside the framework and make „The Unseen Empire“ visible!
The Unseen Empire“ is set to be released on April 15, 2011 via Nuclear Blast!

Artillery posts new video

Metalnews Power of
The promo video to “Warrior Blood” – a track from “My Blood”, the forthcoming album by Artillery  – is available on Metal Mind Productions’ channel on YouTube. The video was recorded in early February with Morten Madsen as a producer.

As previously announced, Artillery, one of the best thrash metal bands around, returns with a brand new studio album. New material entitled “My Blood” is the follow-up to their highly acclaimed album “When Death Comes” (2009). The album will be released as a jewel case CD and as a digipak CD including 2 bonus tracks. Japanese edition of the album will include an exclusive bonus track which won’t be available elsewhere. Metal Mind Productions set the release date for 21st March in Europe, 16th March in Japan (via King Records) and 5th April in USA (via MVD).

Denmark’s Artillery is one of Europe’s earliest exponents of thrash metal and the band’s contribution to the bourgeoning genre is difficult to ignore. The Danish quartet successfully managed to fuse an abrasive brutality with technicality and good melodies, with the noteworthy guitar leads of the Stützer brothers as well as the remarkable vocals from Flemming Rønsdorf serving as highlights. Due to Artillery’s demos being well distributed, the band gained worldwide recognition even before the release of their first official album; and the band’s first three studio albums, “Fear of Tomorrow”, “Terror Squad” and “By Inheritance”, all assumed the status of classics in the thrash genre. However, due to lack of support from labels and internal band disputes, Artillery never really achieved their big breakthrough and thus split up in 1991. In late 1999, Artillery reunited and released the critically acclaimed album “B.A.C.K.”, but they never really took off as a band again. A few live appearances came in the wake of the release, only to be followed by silence. However, in 2008 the classic core of Artillery, consisting of Morten and Michael Stützer as well as Peter Thorslund (bass) and Carsten N. Nielsen (drums) rejoined forces and subsequently employed new vocalist Søren Adamsen, who provided the band with a rejuvenated energy and a musical prowess that was soon witnessed on the live DVD “One Foot in the Grave, The Other One in the Trash”, containing updated versions of classic material. Another new chapter in the life of Artillery has now begun with their brand new studio album, “My Blood”, which contains 11 blistering tracks that fill the void between past glory and future splendor. New material was recorded between November 2010 and January 2011 at Medley Studios in Denmark with Søren Andersen as the producer. The band promote the new album with a video clip to the track “Warrior Blood”. What can we expect from the musical side of the new album? Guitarist Michael Stützer says: “The sound is a bit more heavy than it was on ‘When Death Comes’. The music is a mixture of our previous albums ‘When Death Comes’ and ‘By Inheritance’, with a slight touch of ‘Terror Squad’ and ‘Fear of Tomorrow’ with some oriental pieces.” The producer Søren Andersen added: "There is an almost rock´n roll feeling in some of the songs".

Warrant preparing new album

Metalnews Power of

Frontiers Records is proud to announce the signing of Warrant, one of the most popular and successful American hard rock bands to come out of the Los Angeles musical scene. The band is currently in the studio recording a brand new album under the direction of Keith Olsen (Scorpions, Whitesnake and Night Ranger). The album tentatively titled “ROCKAHOLIC” is scheduled for a May 2011 Worldwide release.

Jerry Dixon commented, “The last few years has been like holding in a big “secret“ from the world and now we get to share it. I really think we captured a perfect mix of the past and present on this record. Each song has its own vibe that’s going to take people on a kick-ass Warrant rollercoaster ride. To help achieve an old school sound mixed with the flair of today, we called on the legendary Keith Olsen to do the production. There’s enough 80’s influence on songs like “Tears In The City” & “Sex Ain’t Love” to keep the die-hard Warrant fans rocking while introducing them to new material”.

Warrant has sold over 8 million records worldwide. The band first came into the spotlight with their debut multiplatinum album “Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich”, which included the smash hit single “Heaven.” The band continued its success in the 90's with the multiplatinum album “Cherry Pie” and the gold album “Dog Eat Dog”, both albums providing more hit singles in the Billboard Top 30.”ROCKAHOLIC” is sure to add more Billboard action for the band. With singer Robert Mason on lead vocals and original band members Erik Turner and Joey Allen on guitars, Jerry Dixon on bass and Steven Sweet on drums Warrant is ready to spread the ROCKAHOLIC addiction to the world.

John Walker returns

Metalnews Power of
In the summer of 2006, John Walker - frontman and guitarist in the legendary British death metal band CANCER - formed a new European metal band called LIQUID GRAVEYARD, a band quite different to Cancer and playing a style ranging between avant garde death metal, Alternative and Progressive Rock, although old school death metal references shine through.

With Raquel Walker‘s vocals shifting between stunning soprano highs, semi-spoken tones, and a menacing growl, LIQUID GRAVEYARD has been described as “hybrid metal”, as it absorbs different styles - doom thrash, death, goth, avant garde - but keeps within its core a totally unique sound.
In the spring of 2008 they demoed their first recordings, which led to them getting signed to Italian record label MY KINGDOM MUSIC, who released their debut album, On Evil Days, in October 2009 – it’s groove-laden melodies and huge rhythm section got a great response from fans and press alike throughout Europe.

The band have subsequently contributed songs to the new film, Witch Of The North, and have now signed a deal with Rising Records, who release their brand new album this spring: The Fifth Time I Died was recorded and mixed at Sadman Studios in Madrid last summer, and mastered at Finnvox in Helsinki in December 2010.

Special guest on the new Nervecell album

Metalnews Power of
We are extremely proud to announce that Karl Sanders (Nile) will be a part of the new NERVECELL album “PSYCHOGENOCIDE” as guest vocals on the song entitled “Shunq (To The Despaired∑King Of Darkness)”.

This particular song is special to the band as it will mark the first extreme metal track ever to include both Arabic lyrics mixed in with English lyrics, and who better else to have come on board and collaborate on this theme with us than the legendary Karl Sanders!
The word “Shunq” in Arabic has two meanings: to choke or to be hung by the neck. The song consists mainly of ideas and knowledge gathered from sources that speak about Lucifer and the demons that serve him. The song “Shunq (To The Despaired∑King Of Darkness)” speaks about the battle of us humans and these demons in reality, in the end Satan himself brought forth to justice.

‎07. ‫شنق‬ ˆ Shunq (To The Despaired∑King Of Darkness)
08. The Taste Of Betrayal

“PSYCHOGENOCIDE” is scheduled for release on Spellbind Records on March 31st 2011 in the Middle East and Lifeforce Records on April 29th 2011 in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and on May 2nd 2011 in the rest of Europe & the UK.

The CD cover artwork was designed by Björn Goosses of Killustrations (ABORTED, SEVERE TORTURE, ZYKLON) and is a concept, which NERVECELL has been working on for quite a while. The band is said to be “extremely proud of how it has turned out” as it “perfectly matches the aggression and musical direction of the new album.”

The follow-up to NERVECELL’s 2008’s “Preaching Venom”, “Psychogenocide” is scheduled to be mixed and mastered at Hertz Studios (BEHEMOTH, DECAPITATED, VADER) in Bialystok, Poland by the Wieslawscy Bros.

Conformism, mediocrity and lack of ambition: just some of the notions OBSCURA shatters to pieces with this classic in the making”

"All releases within this subgenre - and for the instrumental track "A Trancendental Serenade" it's the entire Prog-Metal-World - will have to compete with this album, even the so-called classic albums. Supernatural!”

“Superlatives fall short to define a sizzling piece of metal such as this!”

“Obscura have absolutely nailed it…their mastery of tempos and moods marks them out as among extremity’s smartest.”

“Once again Obscura truly blasts your mind. Without a doubt ‘Omnivium’ brings us all we have hoped for.”

Graspop - Five new names

Metalnews Power of
Zakk Wylde not only made a name for himself as Ozzy Osbourne’s lead guitarist, but his own projects also attracted legions of fans, known as Berserkers. After a small acoustic interlude, Zakk founded BLACK LABEL SOCIETY in 1998. Wylde & Co are synonymous with a steaming pot of ‘brewtality’ with a seasoning of catchy riffs and jaw-dropping guitar solos. The result sounds like a mix of Black Sabbath, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Pantera but it’s unmistakably Wylde. In their second GMM appearance, Black Label Society will be showcasing their eighth album ‘Order of the Black’. (Saturday, 25 June)

After a one-year hiatus, former Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan is making his second GMM appearance this year in support of his new album ‘The Taking’, which is coming out in April. Following his departure from Guns, McKagan played in several bands. The most successful was obviously Velvet Revolver, where he reteamed with former Gunners Slash and Matt Sorum. In the meantime, McKagan has also become a financial columnist for Playboy and as no new Velvet Revolver material is in the pipeline, he’s more than happy to ‘do his thang’ at GMM2011 with DUFF MCKAGAN’S LOADED! (Friday; 24 June)

Singer Dave Wyndorf was so attached to this one Wham-O toy that he decided to name his band after it. Formed in 1989, MONSTER MAGNET introduced the world to their heavy stoner rock rooted in the seventies. Their first full-length effort, ‘Spine of God’, is still regarded as one of the landmarks in stoner rock. On stage, Monster Magnet habitually play all their classic tunes such as 'Dopes to Infinity', 'Negasonic Teenage Warhead' and 'Spacelord’. Definitely one to look forward to on Saturday, 25 June.

Good news for all you thrashers out there because LEGION OF THE DAMNED and KREATOR have just been confirmed for this year’s edition of GMM!

After years of fighting a rearguard action, the Dutch thrash combo Occult decided to wipe the slate clean and start over as LEGION OF THE DAMNED. The musical ingredients hardly changed but under the new band name their career finally took off. Legion of the Damned is one of the main exponents of today’s thrash revival and they have a great live reputation. Fast riffs, raging solos and a pumping rhythm section keep the adrenaline going and growler Maurice’s edgy vokills bombard the masses with aggressive poetry. Rain or shine, the Legion of the Damned is sure to stoke the furnace. (Sunday, 26 June)

Time seems to have stood still for KREATOR. Founded in 1982 in Germany’s Ruhr region, the band is commonly credited with helping pioneer the European thrash movement. Now, 29 years later, Mille & Co are still the proud bearers of the ‘Flag of Hate’. Their music appeals to both young and old and their shows almost always sell out. Not surprisingly, most younger bands can’t hold a candle to this legendary thrash quartet. Just check them out and you’ll see what we mean. (Sunday, 26 June)

Graveyard posts another new song

Metalnews Power of
“Ain’t Fit To Live Here,” a new song off the upcoming sophomore album „Hisingen Blues“ by Gothenburg’s classic rockers GRAVEYARD, is now available for worldwide streaming exclusively at  The song will be available today from 14:00 CET through 14:00 CET on the 24th!

„Hisingen Blues“ will be out in Europe on March 25, 2011.  The album was produced, recorded, and mixed in 100% analog by Don Alsterberg (JOSÉ GONZALES, JUNIP, SOUNDTRACK OF OUR LIVES, THE INTERNATIONAL NOISE CONSPIRACY) at Don Pierre Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden.

GRAVEYARD recently completed work on their first official video for the title track “Hisingen Blues” (audio preview available here).  Late last week, the band stated: "It will be in black/white and the feel we're going for is a little mix between Creedence [Clearwater Revival] and Jimi Hendrix meets Mastodon.”

Ulf Lundén created the album art for „Hisingen Blues“.  States the band about their choice of artist:  “We just let him loose.  He put us up against the green screen, took his photos and that was that.  A couple of weeks later, he showed us what he had done. We were astonished by his work, a perfectionist indeed.  We got what we asked for, a cover that isn't average.  Rich with details, swamp/jungle feeling, weirdness and a lurking evil feel to it.”
A limited edition 7” picture disc of the title track “Hisingen Blues” backed with the exclusive vinyl track “Granny And Davis” and featuring different artwork will be available through Nuclear Blast Germany’s mail-order on February 25th. This release is limited to 500 copies worldwide, so keep an eye on when it goes on sale in your territory because they’ll go fast!
Stream GRAVEYARD’s entire, self-titled debut album here.
