Shining releasing live CD/DVD

Metalnews Power of
For the first time ever, the raw energy of their legendary live performances has been captured on tape in a setting organized solely by the band itself. Produced by the multi-talented front-man Munkeby, and backed by the same mixing and mastering team as on their previous Blackjazz studio album, we could not get a truer version of what Blackjazz is meant to be. Straight from the horse’s mouth, this is the new standard that bands will strive to match for the next 10 or 20 years to come.

“This is basically the “Greatest Hits” album we have always dreamed of, now beautifully combined with breath-taking film footage vibrating with power. It feels good to know that people can now truly experience how much fire and effort we pour into our live shows. It could not have been better!” - Jørgen Munkeby

With all the blackness and all the humor, “Live Blackjazz” is the perfect display of a new genre rising. With all it’s technicality and all it’s rough shooting from the hip. With the trademark meltdown guitar tones and the Bonham-reborn-as-an-android drumming. Finally we also have the proof; the saxophone is the new Devil’s instrument.

New Korn album December 6th

Metalnews Power of
Korn announced today that they will release their tenth studio album, The Path of Totality on December 6.
But this one is unlike any Korn record.  It's even unlike any record released before.
The Path of Totality is an experimental album which finds Korn shifting gears and exploring new territory. That should hardly come as a shock to the band's diehard fans, as Korn exploded onto the scene in the'90s and established themselves as hard rock game changers from that point on.
For The Path of Totality, the band collaborated with some of the leading dubstep and electronic producers in the world, including Skrillex, Excision, Datsik, Noisia, Kill the Noise, and 12th Planet. The result is something completely new, yet utterly and definitively Korn.  Leave it to a band like Korn to continue to reinvent itself two decades deep into its career.
"The title The Path of Totality refers to the fact that in order to see the sun in a full solar eclipse, you must be in the exact right place in the exact right time," Korn frontman Jonathan Davis explained. "That's how this album came together. I think all the producers feel the same way. I'm not sure it could ever happen again"
The band's recent (and much lauded) collaboration with dubstep's hottest producer, Skrillex, titled "Get Up!," was the surprise rock hit of the summer, the buzz of which started in Coachella's dance tent in April 2011, when Jonathan and Munky joined Skrillex on stage for a show stealing unannounced performance of the song.
That performance generated the start of a deafening buzz. The track  has sold over 150,000 downloads, while the lyric video has generated nearly two million views and counting.  The song, a Top 10 rock radio hit,  still continues to be one of the best testing songs on the format over 24 weeks after its release.
Adds James "Munky" Shaffer, "Get Up" started as a bit of an experiment, but we had such an amazing response from our fans and had such a great time collaborating that a full album of tracks came together in a couple of months. We couldn't wait to get to the studio every day to finish the next song."

Some of the song titles from The Path of Totality are: "Narcissistic Cannibal", "Burn The Obedient." "Illuminati," "Kill Mercy Within," and "Chaos Lives In Everything."
The album will be released in two configurations: as a standard 11 song CD and a special edition CD that will include bonus tracks as well as a DVD of The Encounter, a full length video concert of Korn's mind-blowing, once in a lifetime performance in the middle of a 900 ft long crop circle in a wheat field in Bakersfield.  The complete concert, previously seen last year on TV and online in an abbreviated form, will be offered in its entirety to those who purchase the deluxe version.
Additionally, today Korn announced that the first leg of their  'Path of Totality (P.O.T.)' tour will play key ballrooms and feature  dubstep DJ's Datsik and Downlink, as well as young upstart Dutch Dub-rockers Dope D.O.D.  Expect a groundbreaking experience unlike any other Korn tour.

Sliplnot re-issues "Iowa"

Metalnews Power of
It's been 10 years since Slipknot unleashed its second album, Iowa, on the world. Slipknot had impacted the music scene in revolutionary, unpredictable ways and established themselves as a way of life for their fans with their 1999-released, self-titled debut.  But Iowa was the album that further proved the band had fully arrived and had no intentions of leaving.  It was the band's statement that that they would continue to make music their way, according to their rules and always for their fans, with their middle fingers pointed firmly at the rest of the world.

To celebrate the album's decade of existence, the band is releasing a special, tenth anniversary edition of this landmark release, which will drop on November 1, 2011.

The anniversary edition will include plenty of extras for the maggots and beyond to feast upon.

It will be issued as a two-disc, one-DVD digipak with brand new artwork, including photography by M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan of the band.   Disc One will comprise the original Iowa album along with a remix of "My Plague" as an added bonus track. Disc Two will include the full live audio from the legendary Disasterpieces DVD, where the band's 2002 show at the London Arena was captured by 30 cameras and released as a concert film. The DVD will include Goat, a new film directed by Crahan featuring never-before-seen interviews and footage showing the madness that surrounded the Iowa era, plus four music videos.

Insense touring Europe

Metalnews Power of
This November and December Insense will tour Europe. Several dates are with the the Defenders of the Fait tour with Trivium, In Flames, Ghost and Rise to Remain.

"Tiny Insense is going on tour with the metal greats! There will be so many firsts for us it's hard to keep track. Although we have an image to take care of - we're giddy like little babies!"
- Tommy Hjelm (Insense)

Insense is known for their brutal and energetic live shows and even impressed the In Flames vocalist Anders Fridén so much that he decided to become the bands manager.

“First time I heard them, I wanted more. They have this amazing ability to sound extreme yet poised, dark yet beautiful, hardcore yet soft, technical yet simplistic, all without falling into the “pathetic”-trap. They are an extreme metal band that’s comfortable to listen to. They’re difficult to categorize that way.”
- Anders Fridén (In Flames and Insense manager)

Official statement from Edu Falaschi

Metalnews Power of
At last I would like to clarify some facts about my voice with all the sincerity, humility and integrity that I may have.

For over 20 years I have worked without a day off in the Heavy Metal style, and we all know how difficult and technically demanding it is. Joining Angra I had to fit a particularly high way of singing, which was totally out of my range, and of the vast majority of the singers! At the time I took the responsibility and faced all the pressure. But 10 years ago it was much easier due to the physical factor, excitement and age. I started to feel, year after year, gradually, the difficulties of singing something so high and out of my natural trait. I fought to the end! I did everything possible to continue to sing the songs, particularly the old ones, always in high pitches, because the melodic metal audience has ever “demanded” this of us singers. But unfortunately, today, older and more experienced, I assume that I am no longer able to sing so high. I am extremely tired and feeling the weight of all that in my voice, including the region that has always been the most comfortable for me! I’m a baritone singer who dominates the mediums and lows, with drive, singing with a more aggressive chest voice, as I did in Symbols and do in Almah. I have conquered many things and built much of my story with my own style.

Therefore, I made a decision, thinking only and exclusively about the health of my voice and integrity of my career, which I have built with so much struggle and dedication. After fulfilling all the promotional activities of MOTION, scheduled until the end of the year, I will stop indefinitely to finally rest and be able to deal properly with my health. But I have to point out that from today on I’ll just sing whatever is in my natural range, be it in Angra or any other band, for my own good! I want to be who I really am, instead of being what people want me to be! In the meantime, I’ll continue with my activities as a producer and composer, which are things I love doing, and will not harm at all the progress of my recovery.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all the fans who always supported me and defend me unconditionally! I will always do my best writing and singing good music for you guys, with all my truth and emotion! This is the first step to a new time in my life! I have confidence in the future and will always be passionate about the greatest music ever, HEAVY METAL!

"We are very stoked about this new collaboration. Our working field will be fusion influenced metal, a direction that allows us to combine progressive elements of our musical backgrounds", says Talamanca.

The Dutch/Italian project announced via Thesseling's website [] to hold video auditions for drummers who play jazz-fusion and metal. Interested parties should send their background info and performance web links via email to: contact [at] jeroenthesseling [dot] com.
Tommy works since 1991 with the Italian prog/death band SADIST and recorded their albums "Above the Light" (1993), "Tribe" (1996), "Crust" (1997), "Lego" (2000), "Sadist" (2007) and "Season in Silence" (2010). collaborated with OBSCURA from 2008 till 2011 and recorded the band's full-length albums "Cosmogenesis" (2009) and "Omnivium" (2011). In 2009 Jeroen rejoined the Dutch death metallers PESTILENCE after a 15-year hiatus. He recorded PESTILENCE's fourth and sixth studio albums, "Spheres" (1993) and "Doctrine" (2011).

The album will be released via Nuclear Blast worldwide outside of North America, with a US label partner soon to be announced. The band will celebrate the launch with a record release party in their hometown of Brooklyn, New York before setting off on an extensive international tour.

Not only is Reborn In Defiance Biohazard’s first original lineup album in 18 years, but it also marks the last album recorded by the band before the departure of bassist and co-‐vocalist Evan Seinfeld. The album remains a testament to the four founding members (Billy Graziadei, Bobby Hambel, Evan Seinfeld and Danny Schuler) and their unique chemistry.

“Biohazard has always been a mixture of our personalities, passion, chaos and angst that makes us who we are,” says vocalist and guitarist Billy Graziadei. “It's this energy that comes out of us when we're together that is BIOHAZARD.”

Having last recorded and toured as the fundamental lineup with the release of “State Of The World Address” back in 1994, Biohazard reformed with all four original members back in 2008 to commemorate the band’s 20th anniversary. They went back out on the road together over the next two years, during which time inspiration struck.

“When we first got back together, we knew it would take us a while to figure out how to be a band again,” drummer Danny Schuler explains. “We toured the world over the next 18 months and were genuinely surprised when audiences everywhere reacted as positively as they did. So we started jamming, and we knew there was something there for us to build on. We wanted to take the live energy we were creating and capture it in the studio.”

The legendary Toby Wright (Alice In Chains, Metallica, Sevendust, Korn) was brought in to produce the 13-‐track Reborn In Defiance, which was recorded in Los Angeles. He turned out to be exactly what the band needed.

“Not only does Toby Wright have excellent music knowledge and engineering skills, but he knew exactly how to work with us on a personal level. He made us keep our attention on the music, and that focus was exactly what Biohazard needed, “explains Hambel. “Toby pushed each of us to bring out the best we have to offer, and we went beyond our comfort zone without ever losing sight of the general vision we all had for this record.”

Adds Schuler, “It was made in the same tradition of every album we've ever made together, a bunch of guys in a room, looking to move the world with our words and
music. We're very proud of what we've done on this record; it ties together everything about what made us unique in the past, with a new attitude and excitement towards the future.”

The band will embark on a massive world tour following their record release party in New York, with concerts in Europe, North America, Australia, Asia and South America planned. Dates and details will be announced shortly.

As a thank you for their loyal fans, Biohazard is giving away a free track titled “Vengeance Is Mine” from the new album. Fans can download the track from the band’s Facebook page.
Graziadei states, “There are three elements of creating an album: the album you want to make, the album you make and the album you wish you made. Reborn in Defiance is the first album for us that has hit all three, and we’re psyched to finally bring it to the masses.”

Biohazard has sold over five million albums worldwide since their formation in the late eighties in Brooklyn, New York. They achieved international success with their albums Urban Discipline on Roadrunner Records in 1992 and 1994’s State of the World Address on Warner Brothers. Over the years, Biohazard has collaborated with Onyx, Cypress Hill, Agnostic Front, Hatebreed, Pantera, and Type O Negative, among others. The band has continued to tour nationally and internationally, sharing stages with House of Pain, Ozzy Osbourne, Slayer, Danzig, Fear Factor, Sepultura and Agnostic Front
