Manowar presents new material

On March 12, 2012 a select group of special fans known as The Circle, who represent MANOWAR's worldwide fan base, were invited to a private pre-listening session of the forthcoming new MANOWAR album, as well as a tour of Wisseloord Studios, Netherlands where the album will be mixed and mastered.

MANOWAR bassist Joey DeMaio, and long-time collaborators Mixing Engineer Ronald Prent and Grammy award winning Mastering Engineer Darcy Proper provided insight into the making of a record, and the specific requirements in the production for a band that is world-renowned for a sound that is louder than any other band and yet equally clear and perfect.

Fans from all over the world were chosen to represent their countries and receive news and updates to share them with their fellow brothers and sisters, and listen to first songs from the new album that is set for release in June/July 2012.

"It was important to us that the fans should be the first to hear the new music. After all, it is all for them!" explained Joey DeMaio. 

DeMaio promised that the story behind the song 'El Gringo', that could not yet be explained due to confidentiality clauses, will soon be revealed and asked the fans to stay tuned on Facebook. He did mention the word 'movie' after the song was played.

The new album will be "everything you've come to know and to love about MANOWAR; and more", DeMaio recently said in a press conference.

MANOWAR will be headlining several festivals this summer, celebrating their new record and the 10th anniversary of one of their hit albums, Warriors Of The World.

God Seed to reveal new music...

In a two hour lecture at the Inferno Music Conference during the Inferno Metal Festival, King and Geir Bratland of God Seed will reveal how they have worked out a new path for their genre of black metal. They will give details and insight into the working process and the philosophy behind the upcoming God Seed album.

The attendees will be the first to be able to hear material from the upcoming album and a discussion of the thoughts behind the compositions.

Massacre Records signs Disintegrate

DISINTEGRATE, hailing from the north of Holland, has a definite preference for well-balanced arrangements and raw, energetic vocal lines, nicely served with a feisty death metal-sauce. Every musician in DISINTEGRATE has the freedom to develop his skills and show his musical prowess, thus creating a grooving mixture of aggression and melody.

DISINTEGRATE is the brain child of Danny Boonstra (vocals + keyboards), Leo van Leijen (guitars) and Jos Hindriks (guitars). When they started the band in 2005, a clear statement was defined outlining the structure and content for DISINTEGRATE: intelligent melodic death/thrash metal with no boundaries.

The band really took flight with the addition of Joran Dijkstra (drums) and Sander Stegeman (bass). By releasing the MCD "Destructive Capacity", the band received a lot of attention and also played on the prestigious Waldrock festival in 2009 alongside bands like Carcass, Killswitch Engage and Heaven & Hell.

Nightrage to shoot new video

Multi-national thrashers NIGHTRAGE will film a video for an as-yet-undisclosed song off their latest album, "Insidious", on April 28 at the Eightball Club in Thessaloniki, Greece. Directing the clip will be Gabriel Psaltakis, who helmed the latest PSYCHO CHOKE video, "Get Down".

NIGHTRAGE's fifth album, "Insidious", was released last September via Lifeforce Records. The album features guest appearances by Gus G. (OZZY OSBOURNE, FIREWIND), Tomas S. Englund (EVERGREY), Apollo Papathanasio (FIREWIND, SPIRITUAL BEGGARS), John K (BIOMECHANICAL) and the band's former frontman Tomas Lindberg (also known for his work with AT THE GATES, THE CROWN and LOCK UP). Lindberg appeared on the band's first two albums — 2003's "Sweet Vengeance" and 2005's "Descent Into Chaos" — before being replaced by Jimmie Strimell (now in DEAD BY APRIL), who sang on 2007's "A New Disease Is Born".

NIGHTRAGE will be playing a couple of shows in Greece next month followed by a small European tour run supporting DEMON HUNTER and label mates DEADLOCK.

De Åbne Randersmesterskaber i Rock 2012

De Åbne Randersmesterskaber i Rock 2012

I Påsken åbner Café von Hatten endnu engang dørene for de mange musikglade randrusianere, når der afholdes De Åbne Randersmesterskaber i Rock 2012.
Efter en pause på nogle år, blev mesterskaberne genoptaget sidste år, hvilket resulterede i en fantastisk musikfest med 8 bands, der over tre dage kæmpede om æren, samt et væld af store præmier - og en café fyldt med et entusiastisk publikum. Det blev det århusianske rock band Diamond Drive, der på  sidstedagen kunne lade champagne-propperne sprænge som vindere af konkurrencen foran lokale Hiroshima Seven.

Diamond Drive har siden sejren indløst deres præmie, i form af en tur i studiet hos PopShit Studios i midtbyen, og de var også blandt hovednavnene til det årlige Midwinter Meltdown på Underværket i januar. Bandet er godt på vej imod et gennembrud, som meget vel kan blive internationalt.

Randersmesterskaberne i Rock har igennem årene været startskudet for flere af landets bedst kendte bands. Således har fx Carpark North (vinder 2001) og Veto (finalist 2003) tidligere deltaget.

Det har også været stedet hvor de bedste lokale bands har gjort deres bedste for at forsvare hjemmebanen. Udover Café von Hatten er konkurrencen også støttet af lokale kræfter i musikmijøet, som bl.a.sponsorerer nogle af præmierne. Det drejer sig bl.a. om PopShit Studios (studietid), Venstrehaandsarbejde.com (fotografering) og MartinHelgren.dk (plakater).
 

I år kæmper 8 bands om præmierne og æren. To af dem er lokale bands - The Royal Getaway og Awesome Lightning, mens de resterende seks bands kommer fra bl.a. Aarhus, Horsens m.m.

De indledende runder bliver afgjort ved publikumsafstemning, og der går to videre fra hver runde til finalen lørdag, hvor et kompetent dommerpanel, bestående af medlemmer af sidste års vindere, Diamond Drive, John Bon Nielsen (lydtekniker for bl.a. Veto og Ginger Ninja), Jesper Søndermark (musiker) og Jesper Nielsen (booker).

Det hele foregår i Påsken, 5.-7. april 2012 på Café von Hatten i Randers.

Helldorados sign with Massacre Records

Album Release planned for the 13th of July, 2012

The Sleaze Metal Band Helldorados from Stuttgart Germany sign a worldwide record contract with Massacre Records / Soulfood, after their last year promotional EP has received very positive reviews all over Germany. The full length album was now produced in the legendary Horus Sound Studios in Hannover (Scorpions, Helloween, Kreator, Victory, Guano Apes) and will be released Friday, 13th of July.

Just in February, 2011 Helldorados recorded a 4-song strong promotional EP in the legendary Horus Sound Studios in Hannover under the direction of producer Mirko Hofmann. As "a godfather" acted Horus founder Frank Bornemann. From the beginning the ELOY Frontman was enthusiastically from the sound, the independence and the logical approach of the Stuttgart quartet. Helldorados now line up themeselves in the list of Bands which recorded some of their most important albums there: Scorpions, Kreator, Helloween, Victory, Guano Apes to call only some.

"Good self- and time management does not exclude creativity. We have worked the last 24 months every day very hard for this next logical step,“ Pierre (vocals), Steve (guitars), Gunnar (bass) and Chris (drums) are telling. The times as a newcomer got enormous sums of financial advance, are over definitively. Nowadays it is natural to have a prominent basic product to win other partners, Pierre is sure. With the Massacre Records contract a new chapter is whipped in the Band history. „We are very glad about the cooperation with a so high motivated and typically impressive Band like Helldorados“, according to A&R manager Thomas Hertler.

Less Sex, Drugs and Roll `N Roll rather Blood, Sweat and Tears Helldorados had to experience since the beginning days in 2007. First the Band won a contest price for „best stage performance“ and one year later they sold 500 copies of their first self-distributed album "Just Rock". More than 100 shows followed in Germany, Switzerland and Austria (supporting Bands like Bullet, Enforcer, Rhino Bucket or Bloodlights) as well as gala show appearances, e.g., at the historical Bregenzer sea stage during the european soccer cup 2008. In addition the first partnerships begun with local brewery Dinkelacker-Schwaben Bräu, the English photographer icon Duncan Smith and from 2011 with the Wacken foundation well-known by the world biggest Heavy Metal festival. Instrument endorsements with Steve Clayton USA, Pyramid strings Germany or Dr. No Effects Netherlands could also be won. Besides, a global Merchandise licence deal was concluded with the German Art Worx

Merchandising AG.

The high-quality production and the dynamic Songwriting of the promotional EP given Helldorados the first media attention in all relevant online Fanzines as well as article in the appropriate magazines. RockHard Vol.296 "... at the latest the Stuttgart quartet presents itself with the ballad Changes and the final song Shout Out as an absolutely serious candidate on the national rock throne" or Metal Hammer April, 2012 "... this four tracks are worth every second... the EP is convincing with mature songs plus big melodies... Dear A&Rs of the nation - Sign Now!" At the same time various radio stations played the songs without an entire Helldorados album out at the market. „We see ourselves furthermore as a Rock `N Roll Band in the niche and, therefore, are glad about the wide attention. Everything more is Add-On anyway,“ says Helldorados guitarist Steve.

Helldorados are musical somewhere between the hit potential of a catchy ABBA tune, the sleaze of Guns `N Roses and the striking force of Pantera. A strange mixture but it seems to function.

Zatokrev signs deal with Candlelight

Candlelight Records is proud to announce the signing of Zatokrev, one of the most forward thinking and crushing bands in extreme music at the moment.

Zatokrev hailing from Basel in Switzerland was founded by Silvio Spadino (drums), Marco Grementieri (bass/samples) and Frederyk Rotter (guitar/vocals) in April 2002 to deliver a heavy load of dragging metal.

In 2003 they recorded a demo and started playing gigs. Through strong live performances, they built up a reputation as an intense live band.

After they recorded the self titled debut album in their own rehearsal room, Zatokrev got a release through the UK label Codebreaker in September 2004 and got only positive reviews in music magazines around the whole of Europe. Later the album came out in North America and Canada through Earache Records, where it also got excellent reviews.

In March 2007 the second long-player was released by Firebox Records and especially for Switzerland by Frederyk’s label Czar Of Crickets. Also this album got excellent reviews all over the world.

End of 2007 a Split EP VANCOUVER/ZATOKREV and the vinyl edition of Bury the Ashes (including a bonus track) has been released through Get a Life! Records.

In this period of time the band played festivals, tours and single shows around nearly whole Europe.

Since then Zatokrev had many replacements of band members. Finally in 2011 a new fixed line-up has been completed and the band is ready to tour again.

Zatokrev recorded a new full-length album with Serge Morattel at the Rec Studio in Geneva, where many great albums from bands like Knut, Shora or Impure Wilhelmina have been produced already. The album called “The Bat, The Wheel and a Long Road to Nowhere” has been mixed, mastered and co-produced by Raphaël Bovey, also known as drummer from the band Kruger, to give it the final punch.

Zatokrev have developed their music further through past years. The new album contains elements from Sludge, Stoner, Black Metal, Prog-Metal, Psychedelic Rock, Post-Hardcore and shows more dynamics in song writing, instrumentation and a stronger variety of vocals.

Frederyk Rotter (guitar/vocals) had this to say on the signing

"We're very proud to be signed on Candlelight Records. Since years it's one of our favourite labels. We're looking forward to a good collaboration and to bring Zatokrev forward with Candlelight’s' help!"

The new album - “The Bat, The Wheel and a Long Road to Nowhere” will be released later in the year.

Grand Magus reveals album artwork

Swedish riff gods GRAND MAGUS have just released the cover artwork of their upcoming masterpiece “The Hunt”.

The cover art was done by Arik Roper (CATHEDRAL, HIGH ON FIRE, SLEEP), he also did the cover artwork of the GRAND MAGUS album “Iron Will”.

Biohazard announces contest winner

Hardcore veterans BIOHAZARD have chosen Travis Campbell’s video for “Vengeance Is Mine” as the grand prize winner of their music video contest. Using their Facebook page, the band challenged fans to create their own music video for a track off of their new album REBORN IN DEFIANCE. 

Submissions were uploaded to Youtube, and the band unanimously agreed on Travis’ entry as the first official video for REBORN IN DEFIANCE.

Vocalist / guitarist Billy Graziadei says, “Without the help of extra footage, Travis took some classic imagery from our previous videos and made it all work for Vengeance is Mine... pure awesomeness! Be on the lookout for some great things to come from him! “

The winning video consists of clips from the band’s music videos from previous years cleverly synched so they appear to be performing the new song, “Vengeance Is Mine”, interspersed with footage of social strife throughout history:

Travis explains, “I have been a BIOHAZARD fan since the early 90s and have always been influenced by their videos and social commentary and wanted to show my respect and appreciation for a band that has helped me get through some rough times throughout the years. I started watching all the old BIO vids and got the idea of taking all the material and cutting it in a new way and adding in civil unrest footage from Occupy Wall Street, the Civil Rights Era, and other events like Bloody Sunday.  The hardest part was getting the synch right, having Billy from 1994 singing to a phrase in 2012 proved quite challenging!  In the end I am proud of the video and I am elated that BIOHAZARD likes it as well.”

Travis will be rewarded with the “DFL Grand Prize”, which guarantees him free BIOHAZARD tickets and AAA passes for himself and a friend to all BIOHAZARD shows, for life. "This movie was first meant to be the recording of our 13 Year Anniversary concert, but as everything with Watain it took on a life on it’s own and became one of our most ambitious projects to date. It is a very personal and emotional piece of work and certainly not for the faint at heart. But for those who wish to explore the glimmering abyss of Watain further, this will be a rewarding release for sure.

The box version of Opus Diaboli also contains an exclusive photobook. It was an overwhelming experience going through the massive archives in search of the photos that best summed up the storm of passionate turmoil that has been journey, especially since we wanted to stay away from livephotos and focus more on moments off stage. The result was however very satisfying, a rare and spicy mixture of photos of which most have never been published before.

We are also proud to announce that this will be the first release on our own label "His Master’s Noise", a name originating from Bathory who had it in mind for their own label back in the early 1980s. Stone Sour enters the studio

Stone Sour, the Gold-certified, Grammy-nominated rock band, are proud to announce that they will begin recording their fourth album in March for longtime label Roadrunner Records. With most of the new album already written, the band will soon head into Sound Farm Studios just outside of their native Des Moines, Iowa with producer David Bottrill (Tool, Muse, Staind). The album is expected in the fall of 2012, two years after the band's most recent long player Audio Secrecy, which debuted at position No. 6 on the Billboard chart, No. 1 on the U.S. iTunes Rock Album chart, and scored the highest international debuts of the band’s career including Top 5 charts in Germany, Japan and Austria, and Top 10 in the U.K. and Australia.

Audio Secrecy also yielded the worldwide No. 1 smash single "Say You'll Haunt Me," which sat atop the Active Rock chart for eight straight weeks, and was the No.1 Mainstream Rock Song of the Year in 2010 and a top 10 Active Rock song of the year.  Stone Sour released Audio Secrecy to much acclaim, including magazine cover features in Revolver and Guitar Edge along with placements in Vice, Inked, Huffington Post, SPIN and more. God Seed announces full line-up

The thaw has arrived for God Seed. No longer frozen, Gaahl and King have regrouped with a new line-up.  Joining ranks with Gaahl and King are:
