Mythological occult metal discoverers ABSU will embark on the European Connexus Continuation Tour in March.

Stated ABSU vocalist/drummer Proscriptor on the tour name: The explanation behind the name of the tour is because we have already toured Europe in April of last year, which was called ‘European Connexus Conjuration Tour.’ In other words, this is second chapter where ABSU left off.”

Howl completes new album

Metalnews Power of
Providence, Rhode Island riff manglers HOWL recently completed the recording of their upcoming new full-length. Titled Bloodlines, the band’s sophomore offering was recorded at Planet Z studio in Hadley, Massachusetts, produced by Chris "Zeuss" Harris (Soulfly, Crowbar, Municipal Waste, 3 Inches Of Blood et al) and offers up 10 tracks of lead-footed audio menace.

Comments the band on the results: "Bloodlines is HOWL 2.0/HOWL on steroids/the bigger, heavier album. We took our signature sound and pushed it to the next level. This is a metal record influenced by doom, rather than vice versa. There's more aggression, more extremes, it's harder-hitting. Zeuss really helped us capture the sound we wanted, the way we truly sound. Bloodlines is huge, brutal, monstrous!"

Bloodlines is set for release via Relapse Records April 30, 2013.

Commended for their distinct brand of “furious, bone-crushing, head-splitting doom” by MetalSucks, and their “huge riffs, excellent tone and an attitude not usually seen in bands with this much groove” by Crustcake, HOWL unleashed their Full Of Hell debut to unsuspecting ears in 2010. Gushed in a near perfect rating of the record: “Full Of Hell isn’t just one of the best metal debuts of the year. It’s likely to be one of the best metal albums of the year.”

Anatomy of I announces new live drummer

Metalnews Power of
Our live drummer, Melle Kramer (OBSIDIAN), has decided to leave ANATOMY OF I in order to focus on his family and day job. We would like to thank Melle for all his work in the past year and wish him the best in his future endeavours.

Replacing him is Marten van Kruijssen (HOUWITSER, OMEGA), an up and coming drummer whose speed and versatility will definitely turn some heads!

ANATOMY OF I, the band featuring vocalist/guitarist Michael Dorrian, bassist Steve DiGiorgio (SADUS, DEATH, TESTAMENT) and drummer Dirk Verbeuren (SCARVE, SOILWORK), started playing live in 2012 with a lineup featuring drummer Melle Kramer(OBSIDIAN) and Giuseppe Formisano(NAUSEAHTAKE) on fretless bass, replacing Verbeuren and DiGiorgio due to conflicting schedules.

Eastworld releasing Everclear in Europe

Metalnews Power of
Eastworld Recordings license the new Everclear album ”Invisible Stars” for European release

Everclear the American rock band who formed in Portland, Oregon in 1992 and is best known for their radio hits spanning more than a decade. Hits include –
                        Heroin Girl
                        Santa Monica
I Will Buy You A New Life
                        So Much For the Afterglow
                        Everything to Everyone
Father Of Mine amongst many others

Lead by founder and mastermind Art Alexakis and armed with his swag of catchy, guitar driven pop gems, Everclear were an ubiquitous presence on the world's airwaves and TV feeds from the early part of the '90s onwards. Songs like Heroin Girl, Santa Monica, I Will Buy You A New Life, So Much For the Afterglow and Father Of Mine amongst many others showcased a band that could not only deliver one infectious anthem after another, but one that could also deliver enough lyrical substance and soul as to strike a resonant chord in the hearts and minds of the slacker generation, elevating Everclear above being just another throwaway pop band with loud distorted guitars and clever hooks.

Starting out in Portland, Oregon in 1992 Everclear choosing a name ode to a notoriously vicious brand of pure grain alcohol, began writing and recording what would be the debut Nervous and Weird EP and their first long player World Of Noise.

From here major label interest stirred and Everclear signed to Capitol Records to record their second album Sparkle and Fade. The album spawned the singles Heroin Girl and Santa Monica and heralded the arrival of a new musical force with the album achieving platinum sales status.

Everclear's third album So Much For The Afterglow was released to much acclaim in 1996 with its catchy as hell title track and the poignant hit single Father of Mine. The band were propelled into the mainstream consciousness, with the album going on to achieve a Grammy nomination for the track El Distorto de Melodica and double platinum sales status.

The band's current line-up features the ever present Alexakis, along with David French on guitar, Freddy Herrera on bass, Josh Crawley on keys and Sean Winchester on drums. The brand new Everclear album titled “Invisible Stars” is set for release in Europe on March 11th  2013. "In some ways, this album's a lot more aggressive than anything we've done in a long time," Art Alexakis says of Invisible Stars, Everclear’s first collection of new songs in six years. "But in other ways, it's a lot more melodic. I like having both of those sides covered."

Complete Failure streams new song

Metalnews Power of
Pittsburgh's COMPLETE FAILURE have debuted another new song off of their upcoming Season of Mist debut, 'The Art Gospel of Aggravated Assault' (scheduled for a February 15th release internationally, February 19th in North America). The track, “Mind Compf” is streaming now at Brooklyn Vegan.

  1. Mind Compf
  2. Errant Social Mile Marker
  3. The Art Gospel of Aggravated Assault
  4. Head Hanger to Be
  5. Drag Migrator
  6. Exitist
  7. Defenseless Mechanisms of Self Inflicted Heartbreak
  8. Disinvictus
  9. Hero of the Church Herd
  10. The Unlove Overhue
Regarding "Mind Compf" vocalist Joseph Mack said the following: "It is a little more intense in title than in what the song is about... For you. In 1985 my parents divorced. This was the first real heartbreak I was ever introduced to. The song is about deceit, disloyalty, selfish living, abandonment, and a few other secrets, and all those fun things. It’s important that this song was first given its meaning and reference in the title. Most people won't really get it. The person who wrote that piece started its chapters with concepts and undertones that would suggest that maybe he did things later in his life that he saw his father do. Interesting how history kind of repeats itself, when I'm doing the same things in my life that I hated one of my family for doing to me. But who cares anyway. Fuck a crying eye."

COMPLETE FAILURE previously streamed the track "The Unlove Overhue" at Lambgoat.

Three years in the making, 'The Art Gospel of Aggravated Assault' is the band's tour de force, fusing ferocious speed and aggression with their aggressive, iconoclastic stance. The album is available for pre-order on Season of Mist’s e-shop.
