Die Apokalyptischen Reiter starts serie

Metalnews Power of
Be a part of the action! On November 01, 2013 DIE APOKALYPTISCHEN REITER will kick off their own YouTube-series. The monthly episodes that will air at the beginning of the month, will present an exclusive inside look on the creation of their upcoming new double album, which is scheduled for a release on May 30, 2014 on Nuclear Blast Records.

“There have been ideas and inspiration everywhere”, the band points out. “We went to the Ural and the Florida Keys, crossed giant mountain passages, found the solitude of Uckermark. We even turned a houseboat into a rehearsal room.” Be it self-made films or coverage, done by a camera team, the band has recorded so much during the past three years, they now can take the best of it. “Travelling is a main theme for us, since the records were done far away from daily life. ‘1000 Tage‘ (English: 1.000 days) is both a look back and a preview and, as we think this way of entertainment will have anticipation rise high.”

Suicide Silence enters the studio

Metalnews Power of
SUICIDE SILENCE will begin recording their new album the week of November 4th with producer Steve Evetts (SEPULTURA, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, WARBRINGER). This will be the group’s first album to feature new vocalist Eddie Hermida (ex- ALL SHALL PERISH), and their first full-length since the tragic loss of singer Mitch Lucker.

"This record will be the grittiest, most meaningful piece of work we've ever stood behind,” commented guitarist Mark Heylmun. “We cannot wait for everyone to hear it. Steve Evetts is someone we've worked closely with for a long while, not only on »The Black Crown«, but also on some instrumental demos just prior to the tragedy last Fall. Here we are a year later prepping to record the nastiest, heaviest, most disgusting work we've ever done. Expect the unexpected. This is for Mitch."

SUICIDE SILENCE’s Nuclear Blast Entertainment debut is tentatively scheduled for a Summer 2014 release.

Nuclear Blast Entertainment is a division of Nuclear Blast Records formed by Nuclear Blast owner Markus Staiger and former Roadrunner A&R chief, Monte Conner.

Grand Magus posts new studio docu

Metalnews Power of
Swedish riff lords GRAND MAGUS have just started to record the follow-up to last year’s crushing output »The Hunt«. After finishing up demoing and a pre-production phase the band entered the recording state at the beginning of September.

The band has posted part 2 of their in-studio documentary now:

Part 1 can be seen here:

To get a real killer record, GRAND MAGUS have once again engaged with Nico Elgstrand as a producer, who already had his hands on the controllers for »The Hunt«, as well as the engineering force of Staffan Karlsson at Studio Sweetspot in Halmstad, who has worked with ARCH ENEMY and he mixed the most recent record of SPIRITUAL BEGGARS.

Last years’ album »The Hunt«, which was unleashed May 25, 2012 via Nuclear Blast, went hunting around European charts, succeeding with the following entries: #12 of the UK Rock charts, #42 in Germany, #6 of the Sweden Rock/Metal charts, #68 in Austria and #76 in Switzerland.

Aetherium Mors unveils new song

Metalnews Power of
UK-based Blackened Death Metal band Aetherium Mors is proud to unveil a new track entitled 'Entrails Of The Soul', from the upcoming 4 track EP of the same name.

The new EP, the second release by the band, represents the rebirth of Aetherium Mors. After being formed in 2004, lineup issues forced the band into an indefinite hiatus. However, the silence was broken at the end of 2012 with the release of 'Drenched In Victorious Blood', a collection of demos which were re-recorded and arranged as an album.

Building on the great reception the debut album received, the material on the new EP takes a darker and more twisted approach to songwriting, with a greater focus on atmosphere and more progressive structuring, while retaining the melodic riffs, ripping guitar solos and blazing pace of the earlier material.

The artwork was created by Maxime Taccardi, and the EP was recorded and mixed by Aetherium Mors in order to retain complete creative control over the new material.

The EP is due for release on the 11th November 2013 on digital format, with a CD following in early 2014.

Belphegor premiere new video clip

Metalnews Power of
Right on time for the annual celebration of All Hallow’s Eve European kings of supreme Death/Black Metal, BELPHEGOR, have uploaded the video clip for ‘In Blood – Devour This Sanctity’, which is available to watch at the following link:

The song ‘In Blood – Devour This Sanctity’ is the opening track from the last BELPHEGOR record »Blood Magick Necromance« that was released on January 14, 2011 via Nuclear Blast. This visual outlet will give your Halloween festivities a new horrific dimension.

‘In Blood – Devour This Sanctity’ was recorded live at Moscow “Moskva Hall” on October 6, 2013. Video was recorded and edited by Andrey Kovalev.

Commented frontman Helmuth:
“What a brutal concert, extreme, obscene and memorable. For the new video I decided to take ‘In Blood – Devour This Sanctit’ with visual live sequences from the Moscow ritual. Authentic and insane. One of my fave tracks in a live situation. Musickwise inspired by ‘The Hungarian Dances’ by the classical composer Johannes Brahms ( 1833-1897 ). You also find there all BELPHEGOR trademarks.

Shredding guitars, fast drums and heretical grunts. Enjoy!“

BELPHEGOR´s highly anticipated, yet untitled new album is scheduled for a worldwide release May 2014 via Nuclear Blast Records. Be prepared!!

Mighty Music signs Temnein

Metalnews Power of

Mighty Music are proud to announce the signing of French progressive extreme metallers TEMNEIN. On January 27th 2014 TEMNEIN will be releasing their debutalbum entitled "404 B.C.".

TEMNEIN was formed in 2009 and are based in Nancy, France, The band’s first recording was produced by Flavien MOREL, keyboardist of Benighted Soul in December 2010, resulting in a demo of 2 tracks named “Time To Avenge”.

Thanks to this demo recording, the band received positive response in the chronicles of several French webzines, and made it possible for the band to perform around twenty gigs in north-east of France and in places such as Paris, Reims and Belgium, featuring bands like Hacride, Hypno5e, Fifteen (formerly X-Vision) and Valborg.

After a few lineup changes, the band was ready to record their first album in February 2013. The result is entitled “404 B.C.” was made at Mon Studio in Nancy in collaboration with Yann KLIMEZYK who has worked with notable French artists such as Kells, My Pollux and Pobox.

Vocalist Yoann “Sub” SACHOT explains about the album:
“404 B.C.” deals with duality that stays in various fields: love, pacifism, work, psychology, our self-perception. It’s the story of a character that develops himself in these diverse points. He has no name but could be called by any of them. He is like any of us, confronted with his moral choices, his principles and his instinct. He has to define his own notion of good and evil.
Each song is a snapshot of his life, various reborn and evolutions of his personality and his state of mind.”

The musical influences on the album are many, ranging from groovy and catchy melo-death, to old-school heavy metal with harmonized guitars, power metal-oriented choruses, but also hardcore technical and progressive parts and blast-beats - even a black metal part is present on the album. All of this tied up in a common thread that is the essence of TEMNEIN.

Surely this is an album for the metal listener that wants to be challenged, but at the same time the listener will nod recognizable and groove to the world of TEMNEIN.

Just give "Heart Hooks" from the upcoming album a listen:

MaYan reveals album artwork

Metalnews Power of
The new album of Dutch Symphonic Death Metal formation MaYaN is called 'Antagonise', featuring 11 tracks and will be released on January, 31st 2014 via Nuclear Blast. The album was recorded at “Sandlane Recording Facilities”, along with producer Joost van den Broek (REVAMP, STREAM OF PASSION).

Today, MaYaN reveals the cover artwork of 'Antagonise', created by Stefan Heilemann, who was already responsible for the artwork of the debut album 'Quarterpast'.

Mark Jansen explains: “The cover is based on the lyrics for our upcoming album 'Antagonise'. Stefan doesn't need any directions, he reads the lyrics and comes up with a phenomenal piece of art. That's why we love working with this guy!

When Snowden revealed the information about the mass electronic surveillance data mining program called PRISM, what quite some people already thought became a proven fact.

We all have been spied on for many years and all our data has been backed up and safely stored. It can be used any time it's needed. All of this in the name of 'war against terrorism', which, in fact, basically is a cover up and a way to bring fear to people in order to get them under control. This trick has already been used many times in the past. History just keeps repeating itself.

The media were covering the story, but politicians around the world, and in Europe in particular, didn't know how to react and remained silent. America is an ally, and not just a little one.

Since it became clear that the NSA (and let's not forget about their British partners in crime of the GCHQ) have also been spying on many world leaders, things have changed. Now it's finally all over the news! Is this the beginning of a turning point in history? Or will we allow a small group of elites to take all our freedom away for their own benefits?

The constitution, the basis of our democracy, is not being respected. Don't get yourself fooled, this is not in our interest. If you want to see the truth, you'll see the truth. We are what we eat!? A bunch of chickens, imprisoned and fully under control with no freedom whatsoever. This is what we will possibly become. If we let it all just happen...

George Orwell, eat your heart out.”

The tracklist of 'Antagonise' will be:
01. Bloodline Forfeit
02. Burn Your Witches
03. Redemption ~ The Democracy Illusion
04. Paladins of Deceit ~ National Security Extremism part 1
05. Lone Wolf
06. Devil in Disguise
07. Insano
08. Human Sacrifice
09. Enemies of Freedom
10. Capital Punishment
11. Faceless Spies ~ National Security Extremism part 2

Guests on 'Antagonise' are: Floor Jansen (NIGHTWISH, REVAMP), Marcela Bovio (STREAM OF PASSION) and the Greek virtuozo violinist Dimitris Katsoulis.

Henning Basse (LINGUA MORTIS ORCHESTRA) and Laura Macri have joined MaYaN as permanent members.

The new MaYaN line-up consists of:
Mark Jansen - grunts & screams
Henning Basse - vocals
Laura Macri - soprano
Jack Driessen - keys
Frank Schiphorst - guitars
Rob van der Loo - bass
Arien van Weesenbeek - drums

MaYaN will present the album within two Dutch shows, live at the 30th January at the “Mezz” club in Breda and 31st of January 2014 at the “Tivoli” in Utrecht.

Sky Architect returns

Metalnews Power of
Two years after their ambitious 'A Dying Man's Hymn', Sky Architect are now back with their highly anticipated third album titled 'A Billion Years Of Solitude'. Prepare for a launch into space. Prepare for wormholes. Prepare for planet eaters, supernovae, and lots of unexpected twists and turns. This time heavily inspired by the vintage science fiction classics, Sky Architect boldly venture into new territories, once again proving themselves to be pioneers within the genre.

On 'A Billion Years Of Solitude', Sky Architect sound heavier, are more daring and inventive, and have challenged themselves more than ever before. In every step in the process, including the cover artwork, the band have taken full creative control. The result: a stunning outburst of creativity, featuring typical Sky Architect elements such as surprising changes, crazy rhythmic devices, polyphonic arrangements and extensive song structures. Fans of Gentle Giant, The Flower Kings, Beardfish and Pain Of Salvation take note!

Sky Architect is a young Rotterdam-based band. You might be inclined to say they play progressive rock music, but they’d prefer you to just listen to their music free of such limitations. As certified architects, they have the technical proficiency to pull off everything they want to perfection, to draw out a flawless design and lay down a firm foundation. Then, instead of filling it in, they keep to the skeletal set-up and let the weather – be it rain, wind or sunshine – rush through it. However hefty the subject tackled, however heavy the sound, the ‘sky’ always maintains a feel of playfulness, an airy breeze keeping things fresh and unexpected. The band is on a mission to prove that progressive rock is not only beautiful, but can also be exciting.

Sky Architect evolved from a three-piece called Seraphine, consisting of Wabe, Christiaan and Rik, formed in 2008 at the Rotterdam Conservatory. A year later, Guus and Tom joined and the rest, as they say, is history. Since then, two albums (Excavations of the Mind, A Dying Man’s Hymn) were released to critical acclaim. Inspiration for their music runs far and wide. From the usual suspects of our time (Flower Kings, Pain of Salvation, Opeth) and the ones from the genre’s heyday ( Pink Floyd, Genesis, King Crimson) towards wildly different acts from the realms of classical music, modern jazz, alternative rock – the energy and commitment of a band like Rage Against the Machine would be a prime example – and many more. This versatility is confirmed by tracing the other projects of the band members, which run the gambit from jazz to folk and from pop to metal. Christiaan is also well-known and highly acclaimed in the scene under his solo moniker Chris. In their short history, they have already played on such esteemed festivals as Night of the Prog, ProgPower and Terra Incognita, sharing the stage with luminaries such as Dream Theater, Riverside and The Tangent.

For the new record, the band was inspired by, and wanted to evoke the feel of, sci-fi movies from the 50s and 60s. Listening to it, you will be transported to a universe and era in which black holes and supernovas are an essential part of everyday life, intergalactic wars are waged and multidimensional beings are waiting past every corner to lunge at you. Through this material, Sky Architect have created an opportunity to craft and twist their sound to fit the subject, and in doing so, grow further as a band. You could call the result space rock, though once again they’d prefer for you to have an open mind and to just go and listen to it.

'A Billion Years Of Solitude' will be released by Galileo Records on November 4th.

Noctum streams new album

Metalnews Power of
"Word along the highway to hell is that Satan's minions are already sporting upside-down cross-shaped boners in salutation of this band of devilish Swedes…" Decibel Magazine

"A metal record with a rare groove…a lean, mean piece of heavy rock" Metal Sucks

NOCTUM have just released their highly anticipated album Final Sacrifice via Metal Blade Records. Final Sacrifice is a fictional horror story where each song communicates a portion of the overall narrative. With that in mind Bloody-Disgusting, the online home for all things horror is hosting an exclusive full album stream of Final Sacrifice. Accompanying the album's premiere, members of the band have taken each song and dissected them providing their own narrative on the tracks and how they were influenced by and could relate to classic horror films. Listen to the stream, which will only be up through this Monday and check out the bands track-by-track breakdown HERE.

Final Sacrifice is available for ordering at

A lyric video featuring live footage captured by Johan Bengtsson for the song Temple of the Living Dead can be viewed HERE.

Final Sacrifice is an analog piece of art in both audio and visual aspects. The cover art was painted by Timo Ketola (Sunn o))), Arktau Eos) and fits perfectly with the album's raw, natural sound.

NOCTUM's search for original and interesting material led them to a heavier and darker sound then their first release. The progression came very naturally for the band and differs from the typical 70's vibe. Final Sacrifice evokes heaviness and emotion one might not expect from a "retro" sounding band.

Final Sacrifice Track Listing:
1. Conflagration
2. Liberty in Death
3. Resurrected in Evil
4. Deadly Connection
5. Void of Emptiness
6. The Revisit
7. A Burning Will
8. Temple of the Living Dead
9. Azoth

David Indelöf - Guitar/Vocals
Daniel Johansson - Guitar
Tobias Rosén - Bass
Fredrik Jansson – Drums

In Solitude announces tour in February

Metalnews Power of
Looks like February will be bedazzled by a rather black sun when kings of Occult Rock IN SOLITUDE will embark on a 19-date European supporting English Black Metal legends CRADLE OF FILTH on their co-headlining tour with Polish death / black metal masters BEHEMOTH!

IN SOLITUDE from Uppsala, Sweden is currently thrilling press and fans alike with its third effort Sister which taps into classic heavy metal vibes while remaining wholly original. The sonic experience is captivating and visceral and it belongs entirely to IN SOLITUDE! The album will surely top the media's "Best Albums of the Year" lists worldwide. Currently IN SOLITUDE are touring North America supporting their brothers in mind, WATAIN!

BEHEMOTH might have been a classic black metal act in their early days, but the priorities of mastermind Nergal shifted quickly: the following years saw the band opt for a death metal approach, and progressive / experimental influences turned BEHEMOTH into a multi-faceted and unique beast. Nergal had to face leukemia – and battled this severe disease successfully! They'll release The Satanist in 2014 and you can look forward to pitch-black shows pairing avant-garde spirit with the atmosphere of a black mass!

Nergal comments: "We are immensely proud to start promotion of "THE SATANIST" on the release date of the album in such a noble company. It's been a while since we toured Europe for the last time… The wolf pack grew stronger and hungrier and with new opus and stage production we have so much more to offer. This European crusade will be the catalyst of 2 years long tour so keep your eyes open!"

Transferring gothic horror from screen to record – a specialty of Grammy-nominated British veterans CRADLE OF FILTH! Cult albums like The principle of evil made flesh proved in the 90s that authentic black metal doesn't necessarily have to come from Norway. Nowadays the band incorporates dark and death metal elements too, and recently Dani Filth made his "Fairytales for adults" come true on The manticore and other horrors in 2012. This headlining tour will mark the 20th anniversary of The principle of evil made flesh, so prepare for some true Supreme Vampyric Evil courtesy of one of the biggest names in extreme metal.

Vokillist Dani Filth comments: "We are very much looking forward to touring with Behemoth et al, as I think the combined line-up for these momentous shows is definitely very killer. Prepare for some riotous shows immersed in such esteemed dark company, as Cradle traverses an Old Skool tour programme set against a viscerally visual backdrop of nocturnal metal supremacy. In other words, be there or be squared. Pinhead-style!"

Support on this tour is coming from INQUISITION and SVARTTJERN.

Denmark's ARTILLERY is easily appointed one of Europe's earliest exponents of Thrash Metal, and the band's contribution to the bourgeoning genre is difficult to ignore. The Danish quartet successfully managed to fuse an abrasive brutality with technicality and strong melodies, with the noteworthy guitar leads of the Stützer-brothers serving as highlights.

ARTILLERY was formed in the Copenhagen suburb of Taastrup, Denmark in 1982 by Michael and Morten Stützer. Since then ARTILLERY have gone thru numerous line-up changes and released six studio longplayers. The first period of ARTILLERY's existence gave the World the three classic albums Fear of Tomorrow, Terror Squad and By Inheritance featuring some of the finest moments of Thrash Metal Europe has ever put out.

After an eight-year hiatus ARTILLERY returned in style in 1999, sounding as fresh and hungry as ever before without sounding like one of those nostalgia acts. The three albums B.A.C.K., When Death Comes and My Blood put ARTILLERY not only back on the map, but also to the top of their genre.

Since the release of their last album My Blood in 2011 ARTILLERY have played European and South American tours and appeared at several festivals and the Barge To Hell cruise. In 2012 ARTILLERY saw the departure of Carsten N. Nielsen and Søren Adamsen. Two new members were recruited, making Josua Madsen the new drummer and Michael Bastholm Dahl the new singer.

Just about two more weeks left before the release of their new record »We’re All Gonna Die« will take place. Now New York City Thrashers GENERATION KILL have put up a lyric video for the track ‘Vegas’, which is available to watch here:

Commented Vocalist Rob Dukes (EXODUS): “I wrote the lyrics to this song after watching a documentary about Meth, it's a fictional story but I'm sure it happens everyday in reality. When I hear the song it's like a little movie in my head.”

GENERATION KILL’s second full lengths album which was produced by Zeuss (HATEBREED, AGNOSTIC FRONT, MUNICIPAL WASTE) and will be out on November 15 (EU), November 18 (UK) and November 26 (US) via Nuclear Blast. You can pre-order the album here:

The band recently released an insight look into the creation of »We’re All Gonna Die«.

1. Born To Serve
2. Prophets Of War
3. Self Destruction
4. Friendly Fire
5. Carny Love

7. There Is No Hope
8. We're All Gonna Die

The band’s name, GENERATION KILL derives from the title of the 2004 book (also an HBO mini-series) written by Rolling Stone journalist Evan Wright. »We’re All Gonna Die« is a big time jump forward musically for the Band who show they can stay true to themselves while still taking risks and pushing the limits of the Band and their songwriting.

Toxic Holocaust premiere new video clip

Metalnews Power of
Today Portland metal/punk unit, TOXIC HOLOCAUST, in conjunction with mega music portal, Vevo, unveils their latest audiovisual undertaking for the track, “Acid Fuzz.” The Technicolor animation film was created by director Adam Avilla. The new album Chemistry Of Consciousness is out in Europe today and will be released in the US tomorrow.

Kick your Monday in the buttcheeks with the ultra-evil, deviously absorbing, tripnotic, cartoon adventures of “Acid Fuzz” at THIS LOCATION.

Chemistry Of Consciousness was recorded by the band, mixed with Kurt Ballou (Converge) at GodCity Studio and mastered by Brad Boatright (Sleep, From Ashes Rise, Nails) at Audiosiege Engineering. Easily TOXIC HOLOCAUST’s most musically and conceptually mature undertaking to date, the record has earned critical fuck-yeahs globally for its blazing riffs, gravelly, venom-coated vocals, and a deadly fixation on the evil in man and a post-apocalyptic world all wrapped in a DIY attitude. Think Discharge on speed; Slayer with a punk rock chip on its shoulder, The Exploited on a Metallica overdose… Chemistry Of Consciousness is currently streaming in its entirety, courtesy of Relapse Records, here.

TOXIC HOLOCAUST mutated into existence in 1999, when Joel Grind merged his love for classic punk and metal into his ideal band. Like his influences - Bathory, Venom, English Dogs, Possessed, Broken Bones - TOXIC HOLOCAUST offers up blazing riffs, gravel-throated vocals, and a deadly fixation on the evil in man and a post-apocalyptic world wrapped in a DIY attitude.

European tourdates will be announced soon!

Chemistry Of Consciousness is available on CD, LP and digitally. Packages are available here. For iTunes orders, point your browser here.

“…one of thrash’s most exciting modern bands…” – Loudwire

“…the aural equivalent of a cobra with a chest tattoo of a double helix and syringes for fangs getting ready to strike amidst two flesh-like walls of anxious, bloodshot eyes…” – MetalSucks

“Grind pierces the veil with increased vigor on songs about government overreach (‘International Conspiracy’), covert mind control experiments (‘MK Ultra’) and the hive mind mentality (the title track)…. He’s also smart enough to recognize the symmetry between a song’s title and lyrics (ie Venom’s ‘To Hell and Back,’ Metallica’s ‘Master Of Puppets,’ 95 percent of Motörhead’s catalog) is enough to transform it into an anthem. ‘Out Of The Fire’ and ‘Deny The Truth’ are metal-with-a-capital-M and easily the best songs to come out of the TOXIC HOLOCAUST camp since Grind transitioned from a solo project to a full band approach in 2009……” – Decibel

“This album is the result of Discharge, GBH and Motörhead meeting old school thrash metal and having a demented baby. The riffs are super-fast, and have that classic d-beat aggressiveness to them… one of the best TOXIC HOLOCAUST albums to date.” – Axis Of Metal

THE GROTESQUERY: First info on their upcoming 3rd album

Metalnews Power of
The fantastic collaboration of US growl god Kam Lee and Swedish Death Metal maestro Rogga Johansson will lead into another awesome album. THE GROTESQUERY are right now working intensely on their third effort and the first infos should no longer be a secret.

Lyrical mastermind Kam Lee states:
“Well - I have only ideas at the moment. But from my side with the lyrics, it will be another storyline based on and going back to the first album…sort of a sequel to ‘Tales Of The Coffin Born’. I haven't 100% set on the title yet, but the working title as of now is ‘Bride Of The Coffin Born’ (although that may change). The story will pick up 50 years after the events of the first album and will take place in the 1970's. It will involve a series of events where girls from the University have gone missing and also the house of Ward has been re-built and transformed into a girls dormitory. We will see the return of Matthew Ward, and learn even more sinister secrets behind the curse of the Ward Family. And we´ll expose the cult of conspirators that have been part of the University and have been behind the events from the start. It will also be the final act in this story line, and most likely the final time I do a full concept album. It will end the “Trilogy of Terror” that started with the first album!”

And Rogga adds: “So far a handful of riffs have been done, and many more are in the stage of being written and recorded. The overall feeling this time is that THE GROTESQUERY is stepping back to the harder songs on the first album, more old MASSACRE meat on the guitar and less melody and epicness. Feels like this album will be heavier than both previous ones, heavier and uglier, just as Death Metal should be. It´ll be the perfect tapestry for Kam Lee´s classical growls to once again explode unto the scene.”
