London's The Osiris Club release their debut album "Blazing World" worldwide today!

The Defiled premiere new video clip

Metalnews Power of
Gearing up to open the main stage at this weekend’s Sonisphere Festival at Knebworth House (headlined by THE PRODIGY, IRON MAIDEN & METALLICA), London metallers THE DEFILED have released the video for their latest single ‘Infected’.

Featuring stunning 3D animation from the London based Smoke And Guns Productions, the video tells a twisted tale of epidemic infection, while the band rock out in a fire and stripper filled morgue.

“We’ve done performance videos, we’ve tried our hand at acting, and our last video did not even have us in it, so we wanted to try something different this time” says frontman Stitch D. “With animation, anything is possible – if we want a helicopter, no problem, if we want a massive machine gun mounted on a jeep, ditto. It might be nice to have real strippers and pyro but for now this does the job nicely.”

“Fuck yeah!” echoes The AvD. “Suicide, murder, disease, fire, helicopters, machine guns, strippers and lego – this has got it all.”

The video is also the last to feature guitarist Aaron Curse, who, as the clip shows, is sadly no longer of this world. The Avd says: “We are sad to see him go, but you can’t fuck with fate. He is probably down there in hell right now, creeping out Satan and his minions. He will be missed.”

To see the video in full and find out what happened to Curse, check

THE DEFILED open the main stage of Sonisphere Festival Friday 4th July 2014, their first show as a four piece.

Karmaflow: The Rock Opera Videogame

Metalnews Power of
What began as a graduation assignment for students of the University of Arts Utrecht, Netherlands in September 2013, has become an ambitious, full-fledged and multidisciplinary art project. Karmaflow: The Rock Opera Videogame is the world's first rock opera videogame. In the game – a 'puzzle platformer' or 'adventure game' –music plays an important role. That is because the story is brought to you in the form of a rock opera.

An all-star cast steps into the shoes of the game's characters and brings the story singing. This cast includes (among others):
Simone Simons (Epica)
Dani Filth (Cradle of Filth)
Marc Hudson (Dragonforce)
Tony Kakko (Sonata Arctica)
Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy)

The musical score is performed by the Metropole Orkest (the world's biggest professional pop and jazz orchestra) and band members of Epica, Textures and Within Temptation.

Karmaflow: The Rock Opera Videogame has several storylines, but what makes this game unique is the fact that the player determines the course of the game as well as the rock opera by the choices he makes. The music of the rock opera can be heard throughout the whole game – even while playing it. The music reacts to the playing style of the gamer.

Making choices is thus very important for the course of the game and the music, which – just like in the real world – revolves around opposites (men versus nature, opposite religions, rich versus poor, et cetera) and balance. The developers and the composer are looking for a good balance as well, namely between the various fusing elements in Karmaflow: The Rock Opera Videogame (videogame, music, performances, live shows, interactivity).

Watch the trailer and find more information on our Karmaflow: The Rock Opera Videogame website.

The rock opera will also be released as an album, in October 2014, and at the end of this year the concert series Karmaflow in Concert starts. Early 2015 there will be a big finale, in the form of two shows in the Dutch city 's-Hertogenbosch, named Karmaflow in Concert: The Rock Opera with Alissa White-Gluz (Arch Enemy), Mariangela Demurtas (Tristania) and more joining the Karmaflow band and the "Metropole Orkest" on stage.

More information about Karmaflow in Concert? Click here.

The game will be released early 2015, for PC and MAC.

QUARTZ: New Album And Compilation In The Works

Metalnews Power of
The British hard rockin' Heavy Metal legend QUARTZ is writing material for a new album and is putting finishing touches on the compilation with previously unreleased studio material from the '80s, which will come out later this year via Skol Records.

QUARTZ were formed in 1973 in Birmingham, and their debut same titled album, produced by BLACK SABBATH's Tony Iommi, came out in 1977. Their second studio album "Stand Up And Fight" from 1980, and the 12" EP "Satan's Serenade" which was released the same year, are considered as classic and legendary releases of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. One of the founding members of QUARTZ, Geoff Nicholls, joined BLACK SABBATH in 1979 as a session musician, and except supporting the band on stage, recorded all keyboards that can be heard on all BLACK SABBATH albums released between 1980 and 1995.

BLIND SAVIOUR reveal details of debut album

Metalnews Power of
Blind Saviour are currently putting the finishing touches to their debut full-length "The Master Plan". The album is an ambitious sci-fi concept involving a myriad of characters and interweaving sub-plots within a post-apocalyptic scenario. The hero of the story is Blind Saviour himself, a character who remains shrouded in mystery throughout the course of the saga.

The band recently released a lyric video of ‘Freedom Call’ which describes one of the last key episodes within the Blind Saviour saga and mainly talks about the largest scale battle between human survivors and their Robot Oppressors which the world has ever witnessed.

(Click the above image to watch the 'Freedom Call' lyric video.)

Blind Saviour can lay claim to be Malta's only fully fledged Power Metal band. Lightning fast double bass drum rhythms, twin-lead harmonies, catchy sing-a-long refrains and orchestral textures are all combined in an elegant and exciting blend. The powerful and varied vocals together with an overall judicious use of keyboards make Blind Saviour quite a unique sounding band within the female fronted metal scene.

Guitar player Campos Gellel recently augmented Blind Saviour’s line-up, which also features ex-Weeping Silence vocalist Rachel Grech. The band makes its live debut on the 12th of this month.

The release date for "The Master Plan" has yet to be announced.

Blind Saviour is:
Rachel Grech - vocals
Aldo Chircop - guitars & keyboards
Campos Gellel – guitars

Retro rock/doom metal sorcerers, BRIMSTONE COVEN, will unleash the psychedelic rumblings of their self-titled new full-length and inaugural release for Metal Blade Records.

Formed in Wheeling, West Virginia in 2011, BRIMSTONE COVEN churns a cogent blend of dark, smoky cult rock that echoes the eerie reverberations of hard rock icons such as Black Sabbath and Pentagram, mixed with the classic rock craftings of Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, all the while preserving a vintage rock sound mixed with a style all their own.

The outfit's Metal Blade debut boasts seventeen mind-altering tracks of occult conjurings - a combo of their self-released full-length and EP -- complete with new mastering and the vintage art renderings by Creighton Hill.

Described The Sludgelord of BRIMSTONE COVEN: "Coming across as Zeppelin meets '70s Black Sabbath (the best kind), BRIMSTONE COVEN certainly have that vintage sound in spades, guitars are crisp, bass feels warm and drums played adeptly, with a looseness that only Messieurs Moon, Ward and Mitchell …are known for. Great stuff and what a voice, 'Big John' is quite the frontman with an endearing and rich tone to his voice and yes he sounds. Killer."

Brimstone Coven will be released in Europe via Metal Blade Records on August 1, 2014. In the meantime, zone out to the witchy, jam-wrangled goodness of fifth cut, "The Grave" at

So, naturally, fans will be excited to see that Kristine joins Heri Joensen and the rest of TÝR in this new video! The video was produced by Stanimir Lukic, directed by Ivan Colic, and can be seen now at

"Valkyrja" debuted on charts worldwide upon release in September of 2013. In the US, the album reached #15 on the Billboard Heatseeker's Chart, #22 on Current Hard Music, #39 on Overall Hard Music, and #70 on the Independent albums chart! On iTunes on day of release, "Valkyrja" reached #4 on the metal chart. In Europe, the album entered at #45 on German Top 100 Album Charts, and #76 on Switzerland's charts. And in Canada, the record reached #26 on the Metal chart. On iTunes Canada, the record peaked at #2 on the metal chart, #9 on the rock chart, and #73 on the top 200 albums chart!

The concept behind "Valkyrja" involves a story based around a nameless, Viking-era warrior, who leaves his woman and goes off to impress the Valkyrie on the battlefield so that she may bring him to Valhalla, or to Fólkvangr, the home of Freyja—the goddess associated with love, sexuality, beauty, fertility, gold, sorcery, war, and death. One can say the album is also indirectly about women and how they affect men and what men will do to impress and obtain women. Front man and founder Heri Joensen goes on to explain; "the woman that the warrior leaves may represent the earthly women. Freyja, The Lady Of The Slain, may represent the perfection of Women, and the Valkyrie is the link between the two, taking men from earthly to godly women."

King of Asgard premiere new song

Metalnews Power of
Swedish Viking black metal-tinged act, KING OF ASGARD are set to release their third album "Karg" July 22nd, 2014 via Metal Blade Records. Visit to stream the first single "The Runes Of Hel" and pre-order your copy of the album.

Today the band is premiering another track from "Karg." The song entitled "Remant of the Past" is being streamed exclusively by Metal Insider. Check out the song and an exclusive interview with the band HERE.

"Karg" is the third album of KING OF ASGARD, following "Fi'mbulvintr", which was released in 2010 and "…to North" in 2012. "Karg" has again been recorded with Andy LaRocque at the infamous Sonic Train Studios. Comments Jonas Albrektsson and Karl Beckman: "After well over a year of intensive writing, we finally reached the point where everything is put into finish. When countless hours of hard work and careful consideration has been completed. This completion, being our third album which at an early stage was titled to "Karg", in English, "Barren". A word which later on came to form the atmosphere of the whole album and a sense that meanders through more or less all the material. It's darker, it is harsher and more stripped down than our previous releases. More mature, precise and well thought out. A challenge both for us as well as for the observer. Lyrically, we have come closer to our own immediate surrounding and ancestral heritage, based on old legends and tales from our home region, a tribute to our fair and historical countryside. Yet again everything was recorded and mixed in Sonic Train Studios with Andy LaRocque at the helm assisted by Olof Berggren. Even in the phase of recording we used the word Karg as a guideline… and thus, it is upon thee!"

The band's two previous, critically acclaimed albums are available worldwide on Metal Blade Records. Listen to the band on iTunes and Spotify to hear what Terrorizer Magazine called "intense blackened folk metal".

"Karg" track listing:
01. The Runes of Hel

07. Huldran

Night By Night posts new video

Metalnews Power of
British hard rockers NIGHT BY NIGHT, who feature Ben Christo (SISTERS OF MERCY guitarist) in their ranks, have released the new music video, for the song ‘A Thousand Lies‘. The clip is taken from the forthcoming debut album“NxN“, due to release on July 11 (Europe), July 14 (UK) and July 15 (USA/Canada) via A Sun Hill Production/Cargo Records.

The video can be viewed here.

Classic Rock UK magazine states: “We recently claimed that Night By Night were spearheading the “new wave of AOR”, and we see no reason to change our opinion now. A Thousand Lies has the harmonies, and the big shiny guitars, and the chorus a postman might sing in the shower.”

“NxN” was produced by Romesh Dodangoda (Motörhead, Bullet For My Valentine, Sylosis) at Outhouse studios, engineered by Rob Thomas, lead vocals produced & engineered by Ben Christo & Henry Rundell and mixed by John Mitchell (Alter Bridge, Asia, Snakecharmer) at Outhouse studios.

“Night by Night are without doubt one of the best young bands out there today. Real songs with great riffs and vocal harmonies. Packing the best ot the 80′s with a youthful, fresh enthusiasm.” (Rick Savage/Def Leppard)

01. Time To Escape
02. Holding Onto Holding On
03. Cant Walk Away
04. Everywhere Tonight
05. Siren
06. A Thousand Lies
07. Its Not Faith
08. The Moment
09. If Only
10. Never Die Again

Henry Rundell – Lead Vocals (ex Voodoo Six)
Tom Daniel – Guitars
Ben Christo – Guitars, Vocals (Sisters Of Mercy)
Jonny Thornton – Bass, Vocals
Damien Diablo – Drums

Night by Night areahard rock 5-piece from London who fuse searing riffs with soaring melodies. This cutting-edge quintet combine the best of classic and contemporary rock, charged with 3-part vocal harmonies to create their own sound and the result is a debut of unparalleled strength and musical maturity, with across the board appeal.

Combine the heavyweight riffs and modern crunch of Alterbridge, add the infectious choruses and lush vocal harmonies of Def Leppard for a taste of what Night by Night are all about. The band members each come with their own musical pedigree (The Sisters of Mercy, Voodoo Six) – and it shows. With flawless production (by Romesh Dodangoda - Funeral For A Friend, The Blackout, Bullet For My Valentine) and irresistible choruses, this is a rare gem of an album with ten strong songs, telling tales of hope and heartbreak.

From the beautifully addictive ‘Can’t Walk Away’ to the hard rocking, ‘Siren’ and everyone’s new favourite song, ‘If Only’ – Night by Night are creating musical alchemy.

“If you like hard rock with intensity, melody and meaning, you will find it here. We have real passion for what we are doing and have pushed ourselves to create the best music possible – no disclaimers, no excuses – we’ve worked hard and we are really proud of the result…”

Night by Night have toured extensively supporting the likes of Europe, Y&T, Jettblack, Heaven’s Basement, Alannah Myles, Acey Slade, The Quireboys, Jayce Lewis,Warrior Soul, Dear Superstar, The Dirty Youth as well as performing storming sets at Hard Rock Hell and Download Festival.

Hatriot cancels European Tour

Metalnews Power of
HATRIOT fans, we have bad news for you!

HATRIOT are sorry to announce that they won't go on tour with Artillery and Onslaught in July.

Here's a statement, taken from the band's Facebook page:
"Due to circumstances out of our control Hatriot is not going to be able to do the tour with Onslaught and Artillery next month. Thank you and sorry to all the fans out in Europe that were looking forward to seeing us. We will be back in due time."

In an interview w/ Dave from MetalRecusants, Zetro also said:
[About the tour being cancelled] "We had nothing to do with that, Onslaught and Artillery pulled off the bill, since we were supposed to be the opener, we couldn’t go over there and play those shows, it wasn’t monetarily feasible for us to do. We were barely gonna break even on that tour anyway, we just wanted to do it for the fans but when they (Onslaught and Artillery) pulled out, we really couldn’t consider going solo, especially with all the great festivals going on. We know we aren’t strong enough yet to pull that off ourselves so we had to abort. I know they (Onslaught and Artillery) left the UK tour dates open for themselves but there wasn’t enough juice for us to pay for the flight, hotel accommodations, whatnot so we really needed those European dates to pull the whole trek off.

We’re extremely disappointed we lost those dates, and I want to repeat again that even though I’m in Exodus now I’m still doing Hatriot, I’m not letting that go, there’s been a lot of voices out there lately saying I’m gonna let it go and I’m not. The band’s (Hatriot) working on some new stuff right now and I plan on writing new lyrics when I’m out on tour with Exodus, Suicidal Tendencies and Slayer."

The complete interview is available here.

HATRIOT's latest album "Dawn Of The New Centurion" is out now via Massacre Records.

SAOL signs Abandon Hope

Metalnews Power of
Playing and writing the kind of music, you like the most yourself, is actually everything a musician could dream of. You don’t have to simulate fun and passion, you are in peace with yourself and you are totally wrapped up in your music.

This principle is exactly what Abandon Hope are making music for, and we are more than happy to welcome them as the newest member of the SAOL family.

About the genre: We discussed for hours and hours and came to the conclusion, that it should be up to you to decide, whether Abandon Hope play Southern Metal, Heavy Blues, American south state rooted Hard Rock or something else.

The band, of course, has a very own definition of their style:
“Imagine our sound, as if Godsmack, Black Label Society and Life of Agony met for a BBQ at the shores of the great Mississippi. This rich mixture slides down your throat like a hot marinated steak, finally flushed down by a pitcher of cold barley brew.”

Backed up by their EP "Existance" and the full length album "The Endless Ride", the quartet from Münster and Hanover, Germany, is eager to present their music to the public - and their next record is already about to be released!

At no time they have to be afraid of comparisons to big international acts, since not only the band’s sound easily reaches professional levels. The incredibly varied vocals are standing out already while taking the first listen to the record and the songwriting quaility is not one bit weaker than that. Abandon Hope always manage to fascinate the audience with tight grooves, driving riffs, varied song structures, and mature lyrics.

The soundtrack to rhythmically destroy your living room furniture!

"Settle The Score" will be released on 15th. August 2014 via SAOL / H'Art / Believe Digital.

»Hardcore Lives« out now!

Metalnews Power of
»Hardcore Lives«, the brand new and long awaited new album by NYHC legends MADBALL is out NOW!

The official video for the second single, 'Born Strong', has been revealed recently. The track features WALLS OF JERICHOs front lady Candace Puopolo on guest vocals. Check it out at this location:

The band also posted a new video trailer in which they talk the guest appearances on their upcoming album, »Hardcore Lives«:

Another trailer in which the band talks the album is available here:

Check out the official lyric video for 'DNA' here:

An in-studio trailer can be watched at:

»Hardcore Lives« is set to be released on June 27, 2014 via Nuclear Blast and was tracked & engineered by famed UNEARTH guitarist Ken Susi and mixed & mastered by long time collaborator Zeuss (HATEBREED, AGNOSTIC FRONT, SOULFLY, TERROR, WHITECHAPEL...).

Official promo photos were taken by LAMB OF GOD's very own Randall D. Blythe.

Iconic frontman, Freddy Cricien, explains the album title as follows: „I shouted "Hardcore Lives" on MADBALL's first release, »Ball Of Destruction« - I was twelve then. It wasn't pre planned or written down... it was an ad-lib that I just threw out there and we kept it! Back then there was no choice really, not the way we were recording - two track live at Don Fury's... NYHC style! I feel the sentiment behind the expression still holds true today, maybe even more so. Hence the reason we finally chose to use it as a title. Sure, it's about waving the flag for our genre/culture, etc. - I've always felt that "we as a scene" had to scream just a lil louder... to be heard! That said, »Hardcore Lives« at least to us, is not just about a cool "catchphrase" - it's about that rebellious spirit that doesn't give in... In life, music, whatever. It's about growing, evolving, and maintaining your integrity in the process. It's about family, overcoming adversity, and respect. All the things that matter inside and outside of the music realm. It's for everyone and anyone with an open mind and heart.“

»Hardcore Lives« will be available as limited edition digipak and on black vinyl, both including two additional bonus tracks: 'The Beast' which also appeared on 2012's EP »Rebellion« and 'Spit On Your Grave' from 1994's landmark release »Set It Off« - both tracks have been exclusively re-recorded for the inclusion on »Hardcore Lives«.

Order »Hardcore Lives« at this location:

The album will also include guest appearances by some of hardcore's most notable singers: Scott Vogel (TERROR), Toby Morse (H20) and Candace Puopolo (formerly Kucsulain, WALLS OF JERICHO).

Sonic Syndicate talks new album

Metalnews Power of
Anglo-Swedish modern metal powerhouse SONIC SYNDICATE have released the first part of a series of trailers in which every member of the band talks their favorite track of the upcoming self-titled, fifth album.

Watch guitarist and songwriter Robin Sjunnesson talk his favourite at this location:

Recently the official music video for the second single, 'Before You Finally Break', has been released. The clip was shot by renowned director Patric Ullaeus (IN FLAMES, DIMMU BORGIR, CHILDREN OF BODOM, etc) and features SOILWORK singer Björn 'Speed' Strid on guest vocals.

A exclusive Making Of has been made available here:

Check out the official music video at

Commented singer Nathan James Biggs: „I'm honored to call Speed a friend. I've been a big SOILWORK fan for years. Those guys were a massive hand in crafting that trademark Swedish sound so it made perfect sense to ask Speed when we knew we wanted to do a song with guest vocals. Performance wise I think we have similar styles and execution, but at the same time we both have our own thing going on so the voices compliment each other to great effect. My idea was also to have a real battle between our vocals. I hate it when you have these "featuring" songs and the guest just pops up for a chorus and then does backing vocals for a while in the verse or something. This is a real fight between us for the mic and I'm sure people are gonna appreciate that.“

Bjorn “Speed” Strid adds:
“Working with Sonic Syndicate is always a pleasure, whether it's in the studio, tour, or in a cool looking abandoned car shop in the industrial area of Gothenburg. I loved recording vocals on this song and especially being able to do somewhat of a duet with Nathan Biggs. He's a truly talented singer and a good friend. Doing the video was easy, fun and pretty intense at the same time. It turned out real sick.. Check it out!”

The first single off the album, 'Black Hole Halo', can be viewed at
Also check out the studio trailer for more info:
Part #1 can be viewed here:
Part #2 is available here:
Part #3 can be checked out at this location:
The album is set to be released July 4, 2014 via Nuclear Blast.

Commented guitarist, main songwriter and founding member, Robin Sjunnesson: "We decided to go with this one as a “Self-Titled” release. Mainly because as an album we have put everything we’ve got into it. All of our experience as musicians, the evolution of the music, the sound from all eras of the band, and also the road we have taken as people. This is us, this is Sonic Syndicate in all its beauty and destruction. It shows our strength, our love for melody, our scars, our energy. The cover art is a definite representation of that. In the background, a battle-torn city laid to waste, four figures emerging together with only each other to depend on in an environment so harsh, only those with a tough heart, body and soul can survive. The tone throughout this album is definitely darker, and as my Swedish family would say “With a red-line running in the middle” so we put this into the colour-scheme. We could not be more proud of this album, and we thank our fans for the support, it's because of them that we’re here. This album is for you.”

The album will include a total of 11 tracks while the limited edition digipak will feature no less than 3 bonus tracks on top.

»Sonic Syndicate« tracklist:

01. Day Of The Dead

02. Black Hole Halo

03. Long Road Home

04. My Revenge

05. Before You Finally Break (feat. Speed/SOILWORK)

06. Catching Fire

07. Unbreakable

08. It Takes Me

09. See What I See

10. So Addicted

11. The Flame That Changed The World

12. Diabolical Work Of Art

13. What We Shared

14. Another Soldier Down

»Sonic Syndicate« marks the band's first release in four years after taking a break after touring the world in support of 2010's critically acclaimed »We Rule The Night«.

Commented the band: "It’s crazy, exciting, and mind-blowing to be back! The one thing we were looking forward to more than hitting the studio, was getting back on the road and seeing our fans, and now we have a killer new album to go out with! We can’t wait for you to hear the new material, and of course we’ll be ripping apart the stage with our favorite songs from all our albums! It is our personal mission to guarantee that these will be our most kick-ass, energetic and dynamic live shows yet. If you’ve seen SOSY live before then you’re gonna want to see the “Diabolical Tour of Art” as its gonna be bigger, better and more bad-ass. If you’ve never seen SOSY live before then now is the perfect time to join the party, and get to one of the cities we’re playing. Damn, this is gonna be good!”
