Scarlet Records signs Hell In The Club

Metalnews Power of
Hell In The Club have signed a deal with Scarlet Records for the release of their new album ‘Devil On My Shoulder’.

The band includes members of acclaimed acts such as Elvenking, Death SS and Secret Sphere, but their music stands out as something totally different: they mix classic hard rock and modern sounds, heavy metal and party songs, fifties rock’n’roll and anything in between.

‘Devil On My Shoulder’ is a powerful, exciting album that displays strong songwriting capabilities, top notch musicianship and meaningful lyrics (one song is based on Daniel Pennac’s ‘La Saga Malausséne), in the vein of the great heavy/rock albums of our times.

‘Devil On My Shoulder’ was produced by Simone Mularoni (DGM, Empyrios) at Domination Studios in San Marino, Italy and will be available starting from November 4th, 2014.

With a career spanning 34 years, EXODUS have not only helped shape and define the thrash metal genre for over three decades, but continually seek to raise its standards. One of the forefathers of the Bay Area scene that became known and envied throughout the world, the band’s 1985 debut album, Bonded By Blood, has since become a legacy album featuring mandatory live staples such as "Strike Of The Beast," "A Lesson In Violence," and the album’s title track. Formed in 1980, the band’s original members included Tom Hunting on drums, Kirk Hammett (Metallica), Tim Agnello on guitars, and Carlton Melson on bass. With a line-up that has evolved throughout the years, the current incarnation of EXODUS charges into the future with returning frontmanSteve “Zetro” Souza on vocals, Gary Holt and Lee Altus on guitars, Tom Hunting on drums, and Jack Gibson on bass. In 2014, EXODUS closed the first half of the year with stellar performances at Kirk Hammett’s Fear FestEvil and Rock On The Range, as well as a groundbreaking tour with fellow thrash legends Slayer and Suicidal Tendencies. To date, EXODUS has released nine studio albums, two live albums, and one compilation. Their most recent release, Exhibit B: The Human Condition, debuted in the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart in 2010.

Anthrax releasing live DVD

Metalnews Power of
Get ready to mosh in the privacy of your own home, because multiple Grammy-nominated thrash masters ANTHRAX have announced the release of "Chile On Hell", a live-in-concert DVD that is due on September 16. "Chile On Hell" was filmed at the Teatro Caupolican in Santiago, Chile on May 10, 2013 and features ANTHRAX performing an extended set that featured songs from the band's entire catalogue.

"Chile On Hell" will be available on DVD and Blu-ray and2 Live CDs, was recorded in 5.1 Surround Sound, and will retail for $16.98.

"Santiago was the perfect place to film the show for this," said ANTHRAX drummer Charlie Benante. "When we'd played there in the past, we'd finish our set, play our encore and go back to the dressing room.

But every time, the fans would continue to scream and cheer and clap. I mean, they went on and on, they wouldn't stop. One time Scott [Ian, guitar] and I walked out to the side of the stage just to watch what was going on in the audience, it was intense. Why wouldn't we want to film a DVD in front of an audience like that?

"Plus," Benante continued, "the time was right to do this DVD… We wanted to finish on a high note. We didn't want to look back and regret that we didn't record the live show."

"Chile On Hell" was produced by Jay Ruston and filmed by City Drive Entertainment Group and DC3 Global. The DVD's cover art was designed by Stephen Thompson, who partnered with Benante to "redesign" the artwork from last year's "Anthems" EP.
The band's setlist was as follows:
01. Among The Living
02. Caught In A Mosh
03. I Am The Law
04. Efilnikufesin (N.F.L.)
05. A Skeleton In The Closet
06. March Of The S.O.D. (STORMTROOPERS OF DEATH cover)
07. In The End
08. Deathrider
09. T.N.T. (AC/DC cover)
10. I'm Alive
11. Indians
12. Medusa
13. In My World
14. Got The Time (Joe Jackson cover)
15. Fight 'Em 'Til You Can't

16. I'm The Man / Raining Blood (SLAYER cover)
17. Madhouse
18. Antisocial (TRUST cover)

Accept: World Wide chart results

Metalnews Power of
If ACCEPT entering the German Media Control Charts at number 1 wasn’t enough, we’ve just had news that the album has hit the top of the charts globally!

The quintet from Solingen also hit number ONE in Finland, reached an incredible 22 in the country of the rising sun, Japan, as well as topping the U.S. charts at number 35.

See below for the global chart entries:
Germany #1
Finland #1
Czech Republic #2
Hungary #2
Switzerland #9
Sweden #16
Sweden Rock/Metal #2
Austria #18
Japan #22
US #35
US Rock #4

France #44
Belgium #48
UK #85
UK Rock #9
UK Indie #15
Canada Top 200 #114
Canada (Hardcharts) #21

“Blind Rage” is the 14th Studio-Album of the living legends from Solingen – a number that seems unreachable for musicians nowadays. It’s the dream of every artist. And if that was not enough: The newest Opus is the most successful chart album in the bands long history. “Blood Of The Nation” heralded the modern era of ACCEPT in and now with “Blind Rage”, the band has climbed even further up those charts. In the last four years, after a break of 14 years, ACCEPT released two new albums (“Blood Of The Nation” in 2010 and “Stalingrad” in 2012). Both of them broke chart records and reached the top of international ranking lists, among other top 5 in Germany, top 15 in Europe and top 40 worldwide. Now with the pole position in the official German Album Charts, the band breaks their own record once again.

Statement Markus Staiger / Owner / Nuclear Blast:
“We are proud and thankful to be part of ACCEPTs rebirth in 2010. With a number one position in the German Charts they climbed the to the top of Mt. Olympus.

This is the reward of the consequent hard work of the band, their manager Gaby Hoffmann and Deville Schober and the whole Nuclear Blast team – together we stand strong!”

Statement ACCEPT:
“Four years ago we decided to start ACCEPT anew. Of course we hoped to reach the fans of Heavy Metal and leave a few more marks in its history. None of us would have thought that we could reach number one in the official German Charts. We would like to thank our team, our label partner Nuclear Blast, Warner Distribution and Brainstorm Music Marketing, all of who gave us enormous strength and the will to continue in order to make this happen.”

What started in the mid seventies as a worldwide trademark, maintained its status for over three decades.

ACCEPT is a phenomenon.

The German Music industry invests Millions of Euro every year to build up new acts. If you include the budgets for artist finding and development the funding is higher than any other, even higher than the development and research budgets of the automobile industry or the pharmacy industry. (Source IFPI). Still only a vanishingly low amount of German artists manage to be internationally successful.

ACCEPT is an inherent part of the international market, ranks among the biggest music exports from Germany and has influenced many innumerable bands both nationally and internationally.

The release of their new album “Blind Rage” was on the cover of the most influential Rock magazines, anywhere from Brazil to Sweden. Adequate to the resonance is the upcoming tour: Beginning this Fall ACCEPT will be touring the US, Asia, Australia and Europe for the fourth time. ACCEPT was a celebrated headliner at the biggest Heavy Metal Festival in existence, WACKEN OPEN AIR, as well as the WOODSTOCK Festival in Poland, that broke every record with more than 750.000 visitors from every subculture and genre.

The history of ACCEPT is even more unique: there are no drug scandals, no alcohol problems, no sexcapades, nothing for the boulevard press to write about – their personal history is as clean as the water from the mountains. The music stands alone and all for itself. An ACCEPT concert is a storm of Heavy Metal that lasts for hours, the real force of Rock’n’Roll, where the art of the music is the only thing that counts.

ACCEPT was never, in the whole history, influenced by any musical trends or marketing orientated actions, there were no artificial radio singles or fictional media stories, no multimedia show with LED – screens.

In the words of the online platform from N.TV: “ACCEPT is recreating the spirit of the 80ies without losing the power and the driving force behind it. The art of staying true to oneself without being repetitive pays of, and has so for years.

In the modern era of one hit wonders, fast pace trends, V.I.P. news, the fanatic obsession for scandals, ACCEPTs down to earth way is the true secret behind their success. True to the roots!

Beginning of September ACCEPT kicks off their extensive world tour. The dates are the following:

Mike Tramp #3 in the Danish charts

Metalnews Power of
Last week Mike Tramp released his praised solo album "Museum" which debuted on the Danish album charts at no. 3.
“Museum” is an album that follows the musical steps of his last album ”Cobblestone Street”, which showed Tramp from a more singer-songwriter and roots-based angle than his earlier work. “Happy to know someone still like homegrown organic music”, Tramp says to the news.

CEO, Michael H. Andersen from Target Records says; “Mike Tramp is the proof that a loyal fanbase is worth gold. Museum is in my book clearly Tramp’s strongest solo album - do yourself a favour and check it out ".

Also the German magazine “Rock It!” are impressed by the former front man of million-selling hard rockers White Lion:
“The opener, “Trust In Yourself”, grabs hold of the listener immediately and doesn’t let go afterwards. “Down South” reminds, towards the end, of the legendary “Beatles” with their melodies “Better” and “Freedom” and would probably give Tom Petty a lot. I have said it many years: this man should play in stadiums and not in small, sweaty clubs”.

As part of his release Tramp gave no less than four release concerts at the newly opened Zeppelin Bar, Café and Venue in Copenhagen. The four concerts took place the 14th - 17th of August, where the place was packed with devoted fans. All the concerts were completely sold out. Tramp delivered outstanding performances with special themes and different set list every night to a dedicated crowd.

Directly after the release Tramp on tour in Europe, where he is at the moment.

Amplifier are set to release their new album ‘Mystoria’ on the 8th September 2014 in Europe and the 30th September in the US, and with just a couple of weeks left till it drops the band have launched a lyric video for the track ‘Open Up’. The band had this to say about the song: "Open Up is a song about surprise. And that's a handy word to use when we talk about "Mystoria"

You can view the video here:

Check out the video for ‘Named After Rocky’, the first single from ‘Mystoria’ here:

Short by Amplifier’s standards at eleven songs and 45 minutes, the band have focused their dexterities into brief bursts of genre-spinning sound. “Mystoria doesn’t aspire to emulate any of its predecessors, ” Balamir says, “but I suppose like Echo Street the approach to making it is a lot simpler - it's just about the songs, pure and simple. We’d gone back to just trying to write great songs and melodies, and that's where we’ve decided to stay.”

With a career that spans almost 1000 gigs of every conceivable size over 14 years and 8 releases, including the behemoth double album The Octopus, which has come to be regarded as a modern classic, Amplifier have by this point progressed past being simply a band and have become a zen-like state of being.

Continents come and go.
Amplifier will still exist.
Amplifier will still melt your face.

Devilment: Interview series, part 2

Metalnews Power of
Witch County England's finest, DEVILMENT featuring the master of horrors, Dani Filth (CRADLE OF FILTH, TEMPLE OF THE BLACK MOON), have published the second epsiode of the official album interview series for the band's upcoming debut album, »The Great And Secret Show«, which is scheduled to be released on Halloween 2014 (October 31).

Check out Dani, Daniel and Lauren talking about the album's title, its artwork and lyrical concept:

Furthermore the tracklist for »The Great And Secret Show« has been announced today. See below.

The band, consisting of Dani Filth (vocals), Daniel Finch (guitar & samples) Colin Parks (rhythm guitar/lead guitar), Nick Johnson (bass guitar), Aaron Boast (drums), Lauren Francis (keyboards & vocals) recently signed a deal with Nuclear Blast Entertainment.

Dani Filth had this to say about the signing, "I am thrilled to be a part of the Nuclear Blast family with my other band, the Witch County fiends DEVILMENT. Our debut album »The Great And Secret Show« is a horror-metal fuelled slay ride of maleficent proportions and deserves some deep infernal love from a label that has dominated the metal market for aeons.

And we have found that unconditional love at Nuclear Blast. All of us in the band are really looking forward to the forthcoming months, as the proverbial war machine kicks into gear and the album surfaces like some sub-aquatic monster hellbent on smashing stuff. Until then keep a cyclopean eye out for regular social media updates, videos and the announcement of live shows to further whet your appetite...”

»The Great And Secret Show« was recorded at Grindstone Studios in Suffolk with producer Scott Atkins, who has previously worked with the likes of CRADLE OF FILTH, BEHEMOTH, AMON AMARTH, SYLOSIS and GAMA BOMB. The artwork (see below/attached) was created by legendary Drake Mefestta.

Adds Filth: "The album cover depicts an intended escape by one of Jack The Ripper's victims, (followed as she is down a moonlit Victorian alley) into another enchanted realm.
Some might read it as an imagined release from the horrible pain to follow, but the artist Drake Mefestta and I thought it served to show the lure of the mystical, amid a sea of debauch.
The artwork that follows in the booklet is a stunning articulate walk-through of that enchanted realm. The album is entitled »The Great And Secret Show« and concerns itself with the occult pulse behind the world, a land of imagination that can be slipped into at will. Like a generator buzzing behind everything. The truth behind the Wizards curtain. A phantasmagorical nightscape. A wonderland. A midnight playground. The fertile land of the dead."

The band’s first single ‘Mother Kali’ can be heard here:

To shorten the wait until the EP comes out, AJUNA offers a full album stream of their debut album "Prisoners Of The Sun" (2013). Available at this location:
AJUNAs lead singer Anders Andersen's comments: "Suntomb is a metaphor for the psychiatric system and a prisoner of the sun is a person who needs psychopharmaca in order to function. It's about the fine line between being medicated until you can't recognize yourself or live a life dominated by psychotic episodes and paranoia."

We the People of Wacken reaches unexpected popularity

Metalnews Power of
What started as a 'thank you' from the W:O:A - Open Air promoters to the community become a huge critical success. We The People of Wacken, a photography book shot by award-winning photographer Pep Bonet and edited by renowned music journalist Steffan Chirazi, continues to receive wide-acclaim for capturing the unique community that is the Wacken Festival audience in a rousing series of unconventional, dynamic and story-laden images.
Shot by over three days at W:O:A Open Air 2013, Bonet traversed all corners of the Wacken festival site to bring unique views of a community which comes together to form it’s own state annually. Employing a sensibility that has seen him achieve World Press Photography awards for human documentation in the likes of Sierra Leone, Haiti, Chad and India, Bonet integrated with the people of Wacken to capture moments of action and emotion which present a unique view of this enormous festival. Complemented by an essay from Chirazi about the Wacken community,We The People of Wacken is a stunning portfolio which will appeal to anyone who enjoys fine photography and intriguing stories. Added to the stunning visual presentation is a 2 CD soundtrack of the bands who played the festival, allowing the reader a dual-immersion into the world of the Wacken community if desired.

Parallel to the publication of the book, there were already an exhibition of photographs of the book, which were displayed on large billboards, banners and screens around on the 25th Wacken Open Air.
What started in Wacken, will be continued in an unprecedented, global exhibition. To introduce the unique Wacken spirit to a wide audience, the banners will be exhibited in various places and venues.

More exclusive footage will be exhibited via social media on The global community is invited to be a part of the exhibition. We'll offer the possibility to give own captions for some images – the two best captions will win a copy of the book “We the People of Wacken”.

Over and above really rare, unpublished images selected by Pep Bonet will be exclusively exhibited in magazines and newspapers. Please contact Ute Kromrey at for review copies and access to exclusive images from the book. Pep Bonet and Steffan Chirazi are also available for interviews.

InsideOut signs United Progressive Fraternity

Metalnews Power of
InsideOutMusic are very pleased to announce the signing of United Progressive Fraternity for the release of their debut album ‘Fall In Love With The World’ this November. Formed from the ashes of respected Australian progressive rockers Unitopia, the band sees Matt Williams, Dave Hopgood, Tim Irrgang & Mark ‘Truey’ Trueack joined by Guy Manning (Manning, The The Tangent), Daniel Mash (Maschine, The Tangent), & Marek Arnold. The forthcoming album also features guest appearances from Jon Anderson of Yes, as well as Steve Hackett of Genesis.

The band had this to say about the signing & tour:

‘We are absolutely thrilled to be signed to such a prestigious label as InsideOut and look forward to a long & fruitful partnership in the future. We are very proud of what we have achieved with the making of this, the debut album from UPF. Everyone has worked incredibly hard to bring it together, and while the road we travelled to get here was a real challenge, the journey has been worth every step. We have strived to create a richer, bolder, grittier sound trying to evolve a little more, and we truly believe we have succeeded in this. But none of it would have been possible without the commitment, passion and belief in the vision of the Fraternity, of every member of the band and the newly formed UPF family so now….we really are, all parts of the whole!!

We are very excited to be taking UPF to the road with our Promotional UK/European tour in Autumn, kicking off at the 2014 Summers End X Festival where we have the prime Saturday night spot on 27th September. We will be playing tracks from the new album and Unitopia fans will not be disappointed as we will be playing selected favourites from the Unitopia back catalogue. We are very much looking forward to all playing live together for the very first time! We intend to give our audience a musical journey they will not forget and hope that they too, will not just fall in love with our music but fall in love with the world!’

Striker posts lyric video

Metalnews Power of

All that glitters ain’t gold - one might perhaps think. In this case, you could probably say the opposite!

As a tasty appetizer for the upcoming STRIKER album City Of Gold (September, 1st in the UK & September 9th USA/CAN, Napalm Records) a brand new lyric video has been released for the albums title track.

Candian metallers STRIKER have carried on the tradition of first-class heavy metal bands for years at a consistently high level. Somewhere between Speed Metal, Maiden-twin guitar harmonies and a piece of Canada, STRIKER present themselves in a traditional but yet decidedly contemporary manner. Behold the new City Of Gold lyric video here:

Shaman's Harvest posts EPK

Metalnews Power of
Shaman's Harvest achieved significant success in the US with their independently released Shine album, which featured "Dragonfly." The song rose to number #16 on Billboard's Active Rock chart and #9 at Heritage Rock, selling over 150,000 singles and tens of thousands of albums. To date, the video has been viewed 2.3 million times on YouTube. Additionally, the composition was featured on the soundtrack of the major motion picture Legendary. In 2010, Shaman's Harvest recorded "Broken Dreams" for the WWE as the theme song for wrestler Drew McIntyre, and cut "End of Days" as the entrance track for Wade Barrett and The Corre.

The band members all grew up together sharing dreams, and becoming men in the heartland of the U.S.A. Hunt shares, "Living in Missouri is awesome. There's a beauty in the grit of us Midwesterners. We work hard, make babies, drink too
damn much, and we're not afraid to rebuild and start over when we get God-smacked. We have an art community all our own, inspired by wind in the wheat fields, and summer morning haze off the rivers and streams. If shit is broke we either fix it ourselves, or put it up on blocks for yard art."

As they began recording Smokin' Hearts & Broken Guns, singer Hunt was diagnosed with throat cancer. He reveals, "I immersed myself in this record, committed to not missing a day. I didn't know if it was gonna be my last record so it was treatment, then studio, then some days back for more treatment. Everyone deals with cancer differently. There was a period I felt alone and a couple tracks speak to that directly and other times I felt overwhelming love for my mates and people who were there for me. I was lucky enough to be recording during it and it's all there."

The album is pure in the way it breathes feelings and emotions that are diverse track to track. They are cinematic, and offer audio beds for flashback memories or present experiences that are our lives. Hunt states, "Whether they're driving down the highway, at work, or doin' the nasty, these songs should be the soundtrack. I think people will accept the diversity from song to song whether it's a riff rock vibe like 'Here It Comes' or it's a darker, emotional anthem such as 'Ten Million Voices' without categorizing Shaman's."

Shaman’s Harvest Smokin’ Hearts & Broken Guns is released 15th September via Mascot Label Group/Mascot Records/Warner Music Denmark.

Threshold: track-by-track, part 1

Metalnews Power of
British progressive metal stalwarts THRESHOLD are set to release their forthcoming album 'For The Journey' on the 19th of September and in anticipation of the new album, the band have been revealing a series of trailers documenting the making of and recording. Karl Groom has showed fans around his studio where the album was recorded and today sees the release of the first track by track trailer, featuring Damian Wilson and Richard West.

Learn how the band came up with the music and lyrics for the tracks “Watchtower on the Moon”, “Unforgiven”, “The Box and Turned to Dust”, here:

Album trailer #1: Watch as Guitarist and Producer Karl Groom walks you through “Thin Ice Studios” and chats about the guitars used on the new album:

Album trailer #2: Karl Groom discussing the amps and gear used. Watch the trailer on YouTube, here:

»For The Journey« is the successor to the band's 2012 release »March Of Progress« and was produced by guitarist Karl Groom and Richard West at Thin Ice Studios in England. The album was mastered by Mika Jussila (THERION, AMORPHIS) at Finnvox in Finland and will be released on September 22, 2014 via Nuclear Blast.

The new album also marks the band's second release featuring vocalist Damian Wilson since his departure from the band in 1997. In a recent interview with Prog Magazine, Damian spoke about the band's relationship and how easy it was recording the new album: "I think it’s just the fact that we’ve become really good friends and it’s the companionship in the band. We seem to care a lot about each other and we’ve become really close. So we thoroughly enjoy making music together".

Commented West: "»For The Journey« is one of our strongest albums and one of the most enjoyable to make. I've probably heard it a thousand times during the recording process but now that's it's over, I still can't stop listening to it!"
The album artwork was created by Polish Surrealism artist LeszekBujnowski, who the band found on the internet. "He's designed some beautiful pieces and we thought this was a perfect TRESHOLD cover", states West.
