Relapse Records signs Publicist UK

Metalnews Power of Metal.dk
Relapse Records is proud to announce the signing of PUBLICIST UK. Featuring a pedigree of members, including bassist Brett Bamberger (Revocation, ex-East of the Wall), drummer Dave Witte (Discordance Axis, Melt-Banana, Municipal Waste, etc.), guitarist David Obuchowski (Goes Cube), and vocalist Zachary Lipez (Freshkills), PUBLICIST UK formed in 2014 and quickly garnered a lot of attention with their two song rough demo, which has amassed over 120k plays on Soundcloud.

The group's sound is a vast departure from their other projects, instead exploring the intricacies and atmosphere of dark post-punk, new wave, and post-metal. Think Joy Division, the Cure, and Neurosis. Stream their two song demo here.

The band will begin recording their debut full-length at the end of October at Wild Arctic Studios in Dover, New Hampshire with Dean Baltulonis (Sick Of It All, The Hold Steady). Mastering will be handled by Dave Gardner, the former in-house engineer for Amphetamine Reptile. A mid 2015 release is expected.

The band commented on the signing: "We're honored that PUBLICIST UK is joining the Relapse ranks. From the start, they've put out some of the best, most brutal metal. They've also really expanded their scope and have proven that heavy, intense music doesn't necessarily need to be metal, either. So for a band like us with metal roots and some metal moments, but an overall different sound, Relapse feels like the perfect home."

About Publicist UK:
With absolutely zero discussion for what the band should sound like, or for what the band's goals were, four people (Dave, David, Zack, and Brett) came together to form PUBLICIST UK. When the band formed in late 2013, there was not a single member of the band who had known, met, or talked to all three other members. PUBLICIST UK was four friends-of-friends who became friends and who soon had well over an album worth of songs, and who had no idea what people would think of the music they were making, as it was so vastly different than any other music they'd ever made before. In the middle of 2014, the band posted two rough recordings, which gained the attention of Decibel Magazine, MetalSucks, Noisey, Metal Injection, and others. They signed to Relapse Records in September of 2014, and will spend the rest of the year completing their first album, which will be released in 2015.
