It took some time to discover the multilayered, intricate world between shoegaze and post-rock, but time is something LAST LEAF DOWN are not worrying about. The quartet from Solothurn/ Switzerland concentrates on songs of timeless beauty with melancholic nuances, and created the debut album "Fake Lights" in this manner. Started in 2003 as dark and doom metal band with heavy tunes, the group changed direction after the integration of new musicians in 2007. Since then, LAST LEAF DOWN soon became known for playing heavenly, ethereal sounds added by distinct, dreamy vocals.
Shoegaze music always needs its "time to develop and to grow" it causes feelings ranging from euphoria to disillusion. "Fake Lights" combines this antagonism already in it's title. Most songs of LAST LEAF DOWN have to be characterized as majestic and caressing. But sometimes the atmosphere seems to be latent frightening. Anyway, the Swiss quartet introduces themselves with emotional, stirring tracks which together form the suggestive debut "Fake Lights".
